Happy Ridge Darkness was over the home of El. England and wife Sunday July 26 when their only little child was called away. He only lived a few short years. Ernest was his name. Pg. 3 Col. 2 Avena Mrs. Nannie Wilson gave a birthday dinner on Sunday July 26th in honor of her mother, Mrs. S. C. Juett, it being her 70th birthday. Those present wer her four daughters, Mrs. Nannie Wilson, Mrs. S. Hardin, Mrs. Fannie Berry, Mrs. Emma Debruler. Other guests present were Misses Lucy and Maggie Giles, Lethea, Lillian and Rose Case, Etta Reed and Nannie Hodge, Messrs Wood Arnold, Claud Mullin, Veach Whalen, Russel Barnes, John Wilson, Andy Case and wife, Hub Hill and wife, John Giles and wife, and her only grand daughter, Miss Tosso, of Covington. James Cummins, of McKinneysburg, was at Tom Casey's Monday night with his phonograph and furnished the neighbors with some good music. Latonia Uncle Ben Whiteker of Sunrise was the guest of our genial fireman Joe Ben Whiteker. Barterville Born to the wife of Matt Snapp, on Monday night a fine boy. Boyd Miss Jessie Pogue, of Berry, and Mrs. Frank Pogue, of Cincinnati, were the guests of Mrs. A. R. Pogue, Monday. Pg. 3 Col. 3 Barefoot Born on the 2nd to the wife of Prof. Smiley a ten pound boy. Pg. 3 Col. 4 Hinton Born to the wife of John Wright a son. Mrs. Wright was formerly Miss Josie Gillespie. Pg. 3 Col. 6 Sadieville John Kitchen, aged 56, formerly of this vicinity, died of consumpton at his home in Lexington. His brothers and sisters from here attended his funeral. Uncle Jackson Conrad, after a lingering illness, died at his home here. Pg. 4 Col. 4 DEATHS James B. Fitzwater, who was killed by a train at Butler as told exclusively in last week's Log Cabin, was buried at Battle Grove Saturday morning. The remains had been buried in Butler, but were disinterred by undertaker, R. B. Whaley and brought to his establishment here Friday. The death angel visited the home of Mr. & Mrs. Harry Simpson July 28, 1908 and took from them their little six month old baby, Alta Mae. Dr. E. H. Rutherford, for 27 the beloved pastor of the Presbyterian church at Paris, died Thursday July 30. The remains were taken to Danville for burial. Mrs. Joshua Barton, aged 73 years, died at his home near Colville Wednesday, after a prtacted illness. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Jessie Paul, of Bourbon Co. and five children, Frank, Virgil, Albert, Ora F. and Ida B. He was buried at Millersburg. Pg. 5 Col. 3 Pedro Messrs Joe Mann and Clarence Florence, both of Sassafras Creek, have wrought an invention on the dirt scoop which may mean a fortune to them. Kelat Atlee Cummins, of Cincinnati, is visiting friends in this county.
