J. Smith Passed Away Tuesday Afternoon Death suddenly came to Newt J. Smith as he lay on the roadside near Connersville, Tuesday afternoon. The body was found late in the afternoon by Will Thomas, and the remains were removed to the family residence at Alberta. About an hour before his death, Mr. Smith was taken ill while riding home having been to the place of Mrs. Laura Conner to buy sheep. He dismounted from his horse and staggered to the side of the road. A young boy named Mulberry, from Sadieville, came upon him as he dismounted, and becoming frightened by Mr. Smith's stuggles the boy ran away, not understanding that the man was ill. Newt J. Smith was formerly Turnpike Commissioner for this county, and was highly esteemed by all. He was a most excellent gentleman and had the confidence of all. For some time he has been in poor health, and his death was likely due to heart trouble. The funeral services were held at the residence yesterday afternoon.
