O. Florence was born 26 April, 1848 and died Sept 9, 1908 at the age of 60 years, 4 months and 14 days. He was born and reared in Harrison Co. near Sylvan Dell; was the oldest son of Peter T. and Hannah Florence, taught school in his native county for a number of years, was married to Mollie Daniel, November 13, 1874 and settled in the Curry neighborhood where he has spent most of his life since. To them were born six children. He was a member of the Republican Christian Church for age 18 unitl 31 Dec 1905 when he joined the Curry M. E. Church. Buena Vista Born on the 8th to the wife of Jeff Caswell, a boy. Pg. 2 Col. 2 Mt. Gilead Protacted meeting has begun at Mt. Gilead Church conducted by Rev. W. L. Richard, of Lexington. Miss Erma and Verna Whalen were the guests of the Misses Hobday Saturday adn Sunday. The new pike leading from Blackburn's warehouse to Mt. Gilead Church will soon be completed. The contractors are T. D. Hobday and Wm. Blackburn. Worrell School has begun with Miss Jennie Hart of Cynthiana, teacher. She is delighted with her school and every child is trying to learn. Mrs. Elizabeth Louderback is visiting her son, T. D. Hobday and attending church at Mt. Gilead. She is glad to get back to her old home where she lived for several years. Shirley Hobday visited his aunt, Mrs. Maude Moore, of Cynthiana Saturday. Wm. Dennis, near Havilandsville, was taken to the hospital at Cincinnati last week to be operated on. He is in serious condition. Wm. Pugh is visiting relatives in Covington. Mrs. Mary Blackburn has returned home after a two week's visit with her sister, near Morgan. Pg. 5 Col. 2 BIRTHS To the wife of Mr. John W. Hinkson, a son. To the wife of Mr. Carl Stevens, a son. Born to the wife of Mr. Chas. Jones, of near Colville, a daughter, Elizabeth McClintock. Pg. 5 Col. 3 DEATHS Mrs. Alice Pogue, formerly Miss Karrick, of Cynthiana, died last Friday at California, OH, where and her husband have resided since her marriage. She was the sister of Messrs. Aaron, W. J. and Press Karrick and is survived by her husband and one son. The remains were interred at Pythian Cemetery near Berry. Mrs. Mary A. Griener, aged 70 years, died at her home on Walnut Street Tuesday morning. She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Ellen Benner. Burial was in Battle Grove. IN MEMORY In loving remembrance of sister Susan Richerson. Pg. 7 Col. 3 Berry Mrs. Alice Pogue died in Covington and the remains were brought here for burial. She was laid to rest in Pythian Grove Cem. She leaves her husband and one son. Mr. Joe Oder died very suddenly Thursday. He resided near Stringtown. Heart trouble was the cause.
