W. O. Shropshire was appointed by the officers of the Leeslick Churches. Cynthiana Democrat 17 Nov 1910 Thursday Vol. 63 No. 8 6 Pages Pg. 1 Col. 4 Mr. Tom Irvin Anderson was found dead in a field near his home, in the Leesburg vicinity, Monday. He was about 60 years old and lived in the Leesburg vicinity all his life. He married Miss Annie T. Sutton, the sister of James Sutton. He is survived by wife but no children. Mains, residing in Cynthiana on West Pleasant street, rescued Marge Dietrich, age 5, from the South Licking River. The little girl had fallen from the Pleasant Street bridge and Mains went in the river to rescue her. Cynthiana Democrat 17 Nov 1910 Thursday Vol. 63 No. 8 6 Pages Pg. 5 Col. 3 Deaths Elder J. W. Shelton, the youngest member of the Shaker Society in Mercer Co, is dead. He was 74 years old. Only a few of this once prosperous society are living. William O. Shropshire , age 73, died at his home near Leesburg, last Thursday of acute indigestion. Survived by wife who was formerly Miss Maggie Cunningham; one daughter, Mrs. Annabelle Wallace; four sons, Al, Walter, Clay and Isaac C. Shropshire of Cynthiana. Burial in Georgetown Cem. Henry S. Wood, died at Mt. Sterling from pneumonia. George C. Graddy, died at Versailles, Tuesday. Mrs. Mollie Frances Blackburn wife of Wm. H. Blackburn, died at her home near Mt. Zion, Tuesday of peritonitis. She was the daughter of Squire Whalen and was 38 years old. She is survived by her husband and nine children. There are also six sisters and four brothers. The funeral will take place at Sunrise Christian Church this Thursday afternoon at two o’clock with services by Rev. Sam’l Foley. Burial in Sunrise. Pallbearers are, Dr. D. C. Patterson, W. M. Stewart, J. W. Snodgrass , Newt. Rees, J. H. Holladay, J. D. Perkins, D. J. Hughes, J. A. Leach. Further notice next week. He was born 6 Feb 1827; married Miss Virinda Lay, 1 Mar 1860 (?) who died Aug 1908. Five children survive; Mrs. Mattie Zeysing, Miss Ida Barkley and W. D., A. J., W. O. Barkley. He united with the Christian Church at Dry Run in 1966 under the preaching of Eld. John A. Gano. He had been a member of the Masonic lodge for 62 years. He was buried by the Masons in Georgetown Cem. Rudolph Munk, a West Virginia University student, was struck in the back of the head by Thomas McCoy, a Bethany College student,in a game of football at Bethany, VA, Saturday and died shortly afterwards from his injuries. Patrick Walch, who ws born on St. Patrick’s day in 1810 and was therefore past his hundredth birthday, died Friday at the home of his daughter Mrs. Jas. Crane in Covington. He was born in County Mayo, Ireland. Charles A. Wickliffe, well known republican politician and lawyer of Louisville is dead. She was born and raised in Nicholas Co. and was married there. Member of Baptist Church. Buried at Beard’s Wednesday. Survived by husband, son and daughters.
