J. Stafford, committed suicide in Memphis. He had married the daughter of Judge J. W. Riley. Judge Riley was the son of S. Riley of the Headquarters Neighborhood. Referee's Decision A. M. Cox, United States Referee, has forwarded to Judge Cochran his finding in the Wm. Blackburn bankruptcy proceedings. The referee holds that Mr. Blackburn's chief occupation is not that of a farmer or tiller of the soil. If the finding is sustained, Mr. Blackburn will be adjudged bankrupt and his recent assignments will not hold. Cynthiana Democrat 18 Jan 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 17 Pg. 1 Col. 3 Alfred Day, died 10 Jan 1912 near White Oak in his 86th year. Second son of Judge Lewis Day by his first wife, Miss Hakins. She died of cholera in 1883. Born in 1826. Married 28 Sep 1847 to Mary Frances Cason. They had five children, three survive: Lee Day and Miss Lillie Day of Harrison Co. and E.C. Day of Helena Montana.. His wife died 11 Feb 1872. Also survived by one half sister and two half brothers: Mrs. H. D. Frisbie, George and Louis Day. Buried in Battle Grove. He was a Confederate Soldier former judge and master commissioner in Bourbon Co. KY, 19 Sep 1828, married Nancy Hitch, on 1 March 1855, died in Lexington 30 Dec 1911. Buried in Georgetown Cem. Had four children with two surviving, Charles and Anna Layton. Also has three grandchildren; Nannie, Alice and Horace Layton.
