WILLIAMS Died in Oklahoma City, OK Burial in Battle Grove Cem. 1 Jan. 1909. Was formerly Miss Ollie Clay Hiten of Leeslick. Survived by husband, two children, parents, one brother, Will and one sister, Mrs. Pearl Jones. HAZEL LINVILLE Age 23, son Silas Linville, died near Ruddles Mills on Christmas morning. Resided with brother-in-law, Claude Johnson. MRS. WILLIAM ELDA COLLIER Formerly Miss Adrienne Griffith, died at Millersburg last week. JOHN MAHRONEY Age 85, died near Ruddles Mills, Sunday. One of surviving member of Company G., Second KY, INF of the famous Orphan Brigade. Sole surviving member of the compay is Jas. A. McDonald, of Kansas City. Funeral was held at Catholic church in Paris. MRS. WILLIAM HINTON JR. Age 38, died at paris Dec. 25, 1908. Survived by wife, formerly miss Eddie Spears and one son, age about 2 years. MRS. PARK INGRAM Died Sunday in Cynthiana. Formerly Miss Augusta Yarness of Poindexter. Survived by husband and two daughters. Buried at Battle Grove. MR. C. L. SMITH Died Oklahoma, 19 Dec. 1908. Married Miss Hitch of Claysville, a sister of Mrs. Arch McLeod of Cynthiana. Born at Augusta, KY, 13 Feb. 1857 and died at Perkis, OK, 18 Dec. 1908. Age 51y 10m 6d. Married 25 August 1887 to Alberta Hitch and they had five children, four living and one son dying in infancy. Living are are Carrie, Robert, Idabert and Anna May. Also surviving are one sister, Mrs. Minor, Augusta and two brothers, Henry Smith, Portland, OH and R. J. Smith, Perkins. Buried in Perkins, OK cem. Rainey, born 31 Dec. 1908, died 6 Jan. 1909. Buried in Curry Cem. LORIE ROSE Age 15, son of Smith Rose, of Oddville, died Monday. Lockjaw. Died of blank bullet wound in hand. Buried at Mt. Pleaseant, Wednesday. MRS. MARY M. DESHA Age 71, died of pneumonia yesterday morning at home of son-in-law, Frank Wells in Cynthiana. Widow of Ben Desha who died a in 1885. She was the daughter of Henry F. and Elizabeth Cromwell and was the first to died in a family of five children. Sister of James W. Cromwell of Cynthiana and of Mrs. E. C. Lauderdale, AR. She leave one son, Robert Desha of Covington and two (3 ?) daughters, Mrs. Frank Wells and Miss Bessie and Julia Desha. Buried in Battle Grove. JAMES E. DICKEY Died Friday of infirmities of old age. He was 86. Funeral was in home of daughter, Mrs. Rice Whaley Sunday. Burial in Battle Grove. Born in Ohio Co. West Virginia, on 28 Jul 1823. Son of John G. and Eliza Ewing Dickey, natives of Pennsylvania and Virginia respectively. He was a carriage maker. Married Miss Sarah J. Jordan on 24 Jun. 1849 in Wheeling, WV, she being a native of Ohio. He was a union soldier in the Civil War. In 1871 he became a U.S. Storekeeper-Gauger. Joined the Presbyterian Church some 30 years ago. Survived by one daughter, Mrs. Rice Whaley, two sons, George and John Dickey. Also survived by one brother, William Dickey of Paris. DR. A. J. BEALE Died Sunday, 3 Jan. 1909, at the son of his son-in-law, Mr. C. A. Renaker. Andrew Jackson Beale was born in Breckenridge Co. KY on 19 Mar. 1831, and was son of Richard Eustace and Margaret Seaton Beale, natives of Fauquier Co, VA. After serving in the War of 1812 his father located in KY in 1820. Dr. Beale grew up on the farm and attended the county schools. He clerked for several years and then began the study of medicine, graduating from the Medical Department of Transylvania University, Lexington, KY, in 1854. He located in Cynthiana and two years later married Mrs. Mary A. Elliott, daughter of John Tucker, she dying in 1901. In 1861, Dr. Beale enlisted in the Confederate Army and became Second Lieutenant of Co. D., 9th KY. Infantry of the Famous Orphan Brigade. He became first Lieutenant, was severely wounded and captured at the battle of Mufersboro. He was promoted to the Captaincy and after his release became a surgeon, continuing in which capacity he served the remainder of the war. At the close of the war he returned to Cynthiana where his popularity was attested by his being elected to several important county offices. He was circuit clerk in 1868, serving six years; was a member of the city council; was elected representative in 1879 and 1881; and was sheriff from 1883 to 1889. He removed to 1889 and became the first mayor of Oklahoma City. He was delegate from Oklahoma Territory to the Democratic National convention in 1896. He purchased real estate in the territory and made considerable money there. In 1899 he returned to Cynthiana where he has since resided. He is survived by three daughters: Mrs. C. A. Renaker, Cynthiana; Mrs. Frank Gray, of Ft. Worth, TX; Mrs. H. M. Carr, of Paul's Valley, OK. Burial was in Battle Grove Cem. by Cynthiana Commandery, Knights Templar. The members of the Thomas H. Hunt Camp, Confederate Veteran, were honorary pall bearers. He was buried in his Confederate Uniform and in a gray casket.
