Cynthiana Democrat 23 May 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 35 Pg. 6 Col. 4 Claysville (Ella Minor Hitch) On Wednesday, May 15, C. B. Hudspeth of El Paso, TX and James Cornell of Sonora, TX came to Claysville to identify the heirs of the late Edward Jackson, who was born here, in the house now occupied by Mr. & Mrs. Jess Gilvine, and died in Texas leaving an estate of one million, two hundred thousand. His will stated that he was born in Claysville and wanted his near relatives to share his estate. Mrs. Belle Warrick, Claysville, and her sisters, Mrs. Alice Leonard, Smitsonville, Mesdames Corrilla Terry, Martha Breeze and Mary Beckett of Cynthiana and Mrs. Angie Olds, Tacoma, Washington are first cousins. Among the other near relatives is Mrs. Addie Bryson Cooper raised and married here, now in a sanitarium in Cincinnati, OH, O. G. Whitley, and Charles Hitch testified they knew Alonzo and Jane Hill Jackson, parents of Ed. Jackson and the direct heirs of the deceased. Messrs. Hudspeth and Cornell administrators of the Jackson Estate, secured more than twenty names of direct heirs none less than first cousins. Lon Jackson and family were very poor people when they left Claysville and Ed. was the only child. Getting on a ranch in Texas and sticking to his bush he realized a handsome fortune he could not live to enjoy. We are glad so many of the heirs are so worthy of a good luck coming to them. Thursday morning before Messrs. Hudspeth and Cornell left Claysville they had Andy McDowell come down with his camera and take several views of the house where Ed. Jackson was born, then several of us were lined up and shot, as they wished to take the remains of a few Kentuckians to Texas with them. We hope some technicality will send them back to Kentucky sometime. Cynthiana Democrat 23 May 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 35 Pg. 6 Col. 6 Robinson Mrs. W. R.
