For almost half a century, Dr. Jacobs has been a celebrity. Living in a place almost inaccessible, his fame spread throughout this and other states and hundreds of people visited him every year for his counsel and herbs. He was an old Mason and was buried in that order. His age I don’t know. When I was a little girl he was a young man with his uncle near our home. He was very eccentric. Many years ago some parties offered him a house and lot if he would move to Cynthiana. He told me it was the difficulty of getting there that made him so popular and he would soon be a nobody among the swell doctors of Cynthiana. Many people will be sorry and surprised to hear he is dead. Hattie Bell Reed daughter of J. H. and Mattie Hammond Marsh born 18 March 1891, died 25 Mar 1912. Married to Homer L. Reed on 10 Apr 1907.
