Log Cabin Friday 14 Jan 1910 Vol. 15 No. 2 Pg. 6 Col. 4 15 Below Zero! The self registering thermometer at Rohs' jewelry store had a very frigid story to tell this week. The record for the winter was again smashed early Monday morning. All Sunday night old King Winter forced down the temperature, until 7 a.m. Monday when 15 below zero was reached. The thermometer remained at this point for an hour and then slowly rose. December and the first half of January have probably been the coldest on record and the snow last Thursday and Friday which was 10 inches deep in government gauges, was the heaviest on record in Kentucky, with the single exception of 1892 when 11 inches was the official record. Daughter of George Pope. Survived by one brother, Hade Pope of Republican. Births Born to wife of Frank Nichols, a son. Born to wife of Wesley Ireland, a daughter. If the ground had been frozen the depth would have been from 18 to 20 inches. It was from 15 to 16 inches here anyway. Monday morning mercury showed it to be 14 degrees below zero. (Delayed from last week) King Grange held its regular meeting on the first. F. P. Wolcott, W. M. State Grange was present. He was asked to act as master of the day. William Blackburn has sold a house, lot and store in Havilandsville to John Thomas and Bert Littleton. Langley and Rainey have sold their stock of goods to the same parties.
