Cynthiana Democrat 18 Jul 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 43 Pg. 1 Col. 3 Deaths Mrs. Jos. Gehr, age 55, widow of Jos. Gehr died at Berry on Friday of cancer of the stomach. Survived by daughter, Mrs. T. Earle and two sisters: Mrs. Brewsaugh and Mrs. Clair. Buried at Pythian Grove. Thomas H. Lail, ex-confederate soldier, died Moday. Buried at Battle Grove. Born 8 Feb 1832. He enlisted on 1 Oct 1861 in Co. A. First Battalion KY Cavalry. He was discharged at Lebanon, VA on 6 Nov 1962 and re-enlisted in Co. F. Third Bat. KY Cavalry commanded by Col. E. F. Clay, of Bourbon Co. He was captured at Paintsville, KY, on 13 Apirl 1864 and sent to Camp Morgan near Indianapolis, IN. Afterwards exchanged, he continued with the Confederacy unitl the close of the war, being sick, when the war closed at Wythville, VA. Survived by three daughtgers and two sons: Mrs. Handon; Mrs. Moses; Mrs Lizer; Dan and Jas W. Lail. Mrs. Leonard is a sister. Eugene Stewart, infant son of Iva Hill died in Sylvandell neighborhood. Buried yesterday. Cynthiana Democrat 18 Jul 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 43 Pg. 1 Col. 5 Claysville (Ella Minor Hitch) Mr. Berry Whalen, died at his home in Sunrise of heart failure, Sunday. Age 47 last December. He was a magistrate, constable, notary public etc. Buried at Barlow on 16 Jul. Never married. He was a member of the burial association and Undertakers Smith and Terry of Cynthiana had charge of the funeral.
