E. Barlow, 7 votes. Worrell – E. J. Whitaker, 8 votes It was the first opportunity women have had the right to vote, and only 12 took advantage of it, three at Pleasant Hill, one each at Half Acre, Worrell, and Million and six at Mt. Zion. The total number of votes cast by men was, 111. Cynthiana Democrat 8 Aug 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 46 Pg. 1 Col. 4 Deaths Robert Franklin Arnett, 77, native of Harrison Co. and Confederate Veteran of the command of Gem. John C. Breckenridge, died Monday in Lexington. Survived by wife; Mrs. Elizabeth Vaughn Arnett; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Sutton of Lexington; brother, T. B. Arnett, Harrison Co.; sister, Miss Mary Arnett of Harrison. Buried at Lexington Cem. D. C. Neal, age 77, died on Tuesday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mordacai Lowe in Harrison Co where he was visiting. He was from near Kentontown. Buried in Kentontown. Survived by son, Will in Lexington and his daughter, Mrs. Lowe. I. Chancelor, age 68, died near Millersburg, Saturday. His brother, R. C. Chancelor died about four weeks ago. John W. Herron, 85, father of Mrs. Taft, wife of the president, died in Cincinnati on Monday. Cynthiana Democrat 8 Aug 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 46 Pg. 1 Col. 5 John W. Wasson Dead Born at Leesburg, Harrison Co., 15 Jul 1824. Son of Joseph Wasson, from Pennsylvania and a soldier of War of 1812. The parents of his mother, Sarah Hearne, came to this state from Deleware. Married 30 Jul 1845 to Miss Mary F. Holton, of Mason Co., she died in June 1904. He is survived by two sons: Chas. E. Wasson of Covington and D. Edgar Wasson of Versailles and two daughters: Mrs. S.C. Nucklos and Miss Dell Eva Wasson. Cynthiana Democrat 8 Aug 1912 Thursday Vol. 64 No. 46 Pg. 2 Col. 2 Knoxville Mr. George Rogers and Mrs. Calvin Carver and little daughter, Nadine, left for thier home in Kansas City. It was Mr. Rogers first visit to Kentucky in 43 years. He was a soldier in Capt. Thomas’ company and under Gen. Morgan. He went up to Mt. Sterling, for near that place he was shot after surrending to Federal Forces. He was placed in a hospital in Mt. Sterling. After recovering he was sent to Camp Morton. If any old soldier who remembers the circumstances would write him he surely would appreciate it. Direct to George Rogers, Carlisle, KY care of Elizabeth Knox and it will be forwarded to him. Capt. W. E. Knox of Versailles is in our city visiting his relatives and many friends. He was under Capt. Pete Bramblet and of the Orphan Brigade. Col. Andrew McConnahay, of Jackstown, called in our city to visit Mr. Rogers.
