D. Evans was killed Sunday by fallling from a barn loft toa Randall harrow, the lever piercing his heart and producing almost instant death. Near Ruddells Mills. Grandson of Green Evans. His wife of about 3 years survives with one child. His wife was the daughter of William Ardery. Buried in Battle Grove. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 22 Jun 1911 Vol. 43 No. 39 Pg. 1 Col. 6 DIED AT 102 Mrs. Ellen Whitley the oldest woman in Harrison County Passes Away Mrs. Ellen Wiggins Whitely died at home of her great granddaughter, Mrs. William Williams, near Poindexter on 17 Jun 1911. Buried in the Duncan graveyard in Robertson County. She was born in Lincoln county on 28 Jan 1809. Surviving children are E. J. Whitley, 72 of Cynthiana, Mrs. G. W. Whitley of Claysville, Mrs. Elizabeth Workman of Augusta. (Mention of other sketches done after she turned 100. Look at the papers around 28 Jan 1908, 1909 and 1910.) Deaths Mrs. Alice P. Montgomery, mother-in-law of Robert Pryor, Commissioner of the Jefferson Co. Circuit Court and A. S. Rice, vice President of the Southern National Bank died Saturday in Louisville. She was daughter of Asa P. Grover, Congressman from Louisville who died about 20 years ago. She was 63 years old, born in Owen Co. KY. Survived by two daughters, Two brothers and two sisters (Named) Burial in Georgetown. Mrs. Martha A. Wiglesworth widow of A. L. Wiglesworth died in Cynthiana Sunday. She was 73 years old in April. Daughter of Elijah Bailey and was born and raised in Harrison Co. Her husband died about three years ago. Nine children survive (Named.) Funeral in Methodist Church. Blount, age 83, died at home in Larned, KS on Friday. Naitive of Nicholas Co. Mrs. Harriett Myers, ageg 94, died 10 Jun 1911 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Pickett Blake, near Miranda, Harrison Co. Pendleton Co. Patrick Acton, age 38 years, died Sunday at the home of his father-in-law, Alex Caldwell near Greenwood, after a long illness of TB. Lawrence Newkirk, aged bout 24 years died Saturday night last a the home of his parents Mr. & Mrs. Wes Newkirk near Concord of TB. Robertson Co. Thomas Kenton, brother of the late Senator Kenton and Mrs. Huldah Whaley of this county, died at his home in California on 27 May 1911. Only one member of the family now survives, Mrs. Margaret Barlow of Illinois. Bourbon Co. Mrs. Mary Graves, age 25, died. Henry Hopson Spears, son o f Jacob Spears, formerly of Paris was drowned in the Ohio River below Louisville. Grant Co. Isaac Riddle Franks, age 84 died. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 22 Jun 1911 Vol. 43 No. 39 Pg. 3 Col. 1-6 Coronation of the King of England (King George) Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 22 Jun 1911 Vol. 43 No. 39 Pg. 5 Col. 2 Claysville Mrs. Ellen Wiggins Whitley, born in Lincoln County, KY 28 Jan 1809 died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. William Williams near Poindexter, Harrison Co. The remains were brought to Claysville Saturday night and lay in state at the home of her daughter, Mrs. G. W. Whitley. She was taken to the church Sunday morning at nine o'clock and the funeral was preached by Rev. Pfanstiel, of Brooksville. Mrs. Whitley's age was 102 years, 4 months and 17 days. She was the mother of fourteen children. Aunt Ellen was known far and near by the oldest people as geing grown when they were small. She lived in and around Claysville some sixty or more years and none were better in the sick room. Five generations were at the funeral. Luther Foley and wife have gone to Rushville, IN to visit his brothers, James and William Foley. Eureka Whitaker has returned home from school and will go the latter part of the week to Ohio where he will stay a few days and then go to Pittsburg where he will engage in the real estate business.
