Conn, a respected old gentleman died at the home of W. F. Burns, of near this place, Sunday. He was 84 years old. Cynthiana Democrat 10 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 24 8 Pages Pg. 2 Col. 3 Deaths Mrs. Sallie Tyler, wife of Mr. Ben Tyler, died at the Harrison Hospital Tuesday afternoon, aged about forty three years. They married in Bracken Co. but made their home in this county for 20 years. Her husband and one daughter, Miss Mary Lizzie Tyler, survive, an only son dying several years ago. One brother, Arthur Thompson of this county and Mrs. T. T. Asbury, of Bracken Co. also survive. Burial in the Germantown Cem. W. R. “Sonny” Thomas died at his home in Winchester Sunday of pneumonia. He was the eldest son of James M. and Ann Rogers Thomas of Paris. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Carrie Hanson, of Paris and two children. R. L. Thomas is a brother and Mrs. John Ireland a sister. Sonny was 51 years old. Hugh C. Hemphill, aged about 68 years, died at Nicholasville on Saturday. He is brother of Louis T. Hemphill of Jessamine and Mrs. Laura Oxley. He is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. R. L. Willis Jr. of Mackintosh, FL, Kate and Andrew Hemphill, of Jessamine. He was the brother of Miss Mary Hemphill who died in Cynthiana, Thursday and whose burial took place in Nicholasville on Saturday shortly before his death. Miss Mary Hemphill died at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Laura Oxley, in this city, Thursday 3 March. Remins were taken to Nicholasville Saturday for burial in Maple Grove Cem. in tha tcity. She was born 2 Jun 1829. Two sisters, Mrs. Oxley and Miss Arkie Hemphill of this city, survive and one brother, Lewis Hemphill of Nicholasville. George Sauffley, Master Commissioner of Lincoln Co. died from typhoid fever. He was the eldest son of Judge M. C. Sauffley. Mrs. Ella Hite, aged 60 years died Sunday at the residence of W. O. Fuller at Paris. She was formerly Miss Dunn of Harrison Co. and the widow of John Hite. She is survived by one son, John Hite of Memphis, TN. Mrs. Elizabeth Morris, aged 83, mother of J. C. Morris of Bourbon, died in Lexington, Monday. John Micheltree, aged 62 died at Ruddell’s Mills, Tuesday. Burial yesterday in Bartersville. Cecil Mulberry, aged 2 years, died at Jacksonville, Tuesday. Burial at Jacksonville cemetery yesterday. Rev. W. T. McElroy died at Mobile, AL Monday where he was pastor of the Broad Street Presbyterian Church. The remains were buried in Cave Hill Cem. in Louisville yesterday. He was the father of Rev. Dr. S. A. McElroy, formerly pastor of the Cynthiana Presbyterian Church. Chandler, died from pneumonia after a short illness. Age 20. Born Tuesday morning 1st inst., to wife of J. L. Rankins, Assistant cashier of the Farmers and Trades Bank, a fine son; weight 11 pounds. Mrs. Nancy Linville, widow of Dixon R. Linville, died in Nicholas Co. Friday at an advanced age. Her remains were brought to Piqua Saturday for burial. Neighboring counties Nicholas Co. Mrs. Elizabeth C. Call, widow of James Call, and a prominent woman of Springfield, IL died aged 73. She was the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. William Hardin and was born in Nicholas Co. KY where she was married 12 Oct 1855. News of the sad death of Miss Carrie Ringo, the eldest daughter of Mrs. J. C. Ringo of Mexico, MO has been received by relatives here. Mrs. Ringo is a sister of Dr. Burroughs of Middlesburg and niece of Mrs. Bettie Spencer, of this city. Ed Chipley, of near Bramblett, died Thursday and was buried at Pisgah Friday. Neighboring counties Boubon Co. Robert McClure, aged 46 years, died Thursday at his home near Shawhan of softening of the brain. He is survived by wife, who was formerly Miss Dora Kiser, daughter of the late James Kiser, of Kiserton, and four daughters, Misses Lucretia, Mmargaret, Fannie and Martha McClure. A message received by Paris Relatives announced the death Tuesday of Miss Sallie Clark, in Phoenix, AZ at the home of her brother, Mr. John Clark. The remains were forwarded here for interment and upon arrival will be taken to the home of her uncle, Mr. W. H. Clarke on Cypress St. Miss Clarke was aged 37 years and died of tuberculosis. Her sister, Miss Bessie Clarke, died in the same city in January 1909, of the same disease. Neighboring counties Grant Co. W. H. Sparks died at Williamstown. Mrs. Anna E. James is dead. Jasper Robinson, who kept a saloon at Covington, was shot and killed by William Blackburn, during a quarrel over a game of cards. The remains were buried at Williamstown. Funeral services were at the house Monday afternoon by Rev. W. A. Penn; Burial at Jacksonville Cem. She was born 7 Sept. 1830 nearly 80 years ago. She was married at 14 years of age to Mr. Joseph Hughes; Mother of 10 children, 5 boys and 5 girls. Nine live to mourn her: John W. and George of Owen Co.; Gus and Silas of this section; Granville L. dead; Mrs. Frances Ireland; Mrs. Kate Davis, Mrs. Cynthia Morgan, Mrs Nancy Works and Mrs Rebecca Works. She leaves over 100 grandchildren, a considerable number of great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She joined the Baptist Church at an early age at Pleasant Grove in Owen Co. Cynthiana Democrat 10 Mar 1910 Thursday Vol. 62 No. 24 8 Pages Pg. 8 Col. 6 Claysville Bettie Lang was born 2 Feb. 1872 married Joel Kinney 7 Oct. 1901 died at her home 2129 Stabler St. Cincinnati, OH, 25 Feb 1910 and was buried beside her mother in Oddville Cem. on Sunday 27 Feb. She was the mother of three daughters, Mamie and Robert Cain, by a former husband and little Alice Kinney not quite four years old. In her girlhood days Bettie lived near Claysville with her mother, who, after the death of Mr. Lang, married James Garrett. Her sorrowing husband , after a week with his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Winder Kinney, returned to the city Monday with his step-daughter, Robert Cain, who for the present will be his housekeeper, as she cannot bear the idea of being separated from the little sister, Alice, who has been in her constant care during her mother’s sickness. Robert is 17 years old and named for her uncle Robert Cain, of Chicago, who is anxious to make her home with him. The older sister, Mamie Cain, is very soon to be married. By a former marriage Joel also has three children here; Lelia, whose home is with her aunt, Mrs. Herbert Wallingford, Jennie and Ira Kinney, with their grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Winder Kinney, who in their old age and afflictions cannot do without them. Mr. & Mrs. T. J. Langley, Mrs. E. T. Asbury and Mrs. Letha Cain visited Mrs. Will Asbury and family Friday. Mrs. Addie Routt Hieatt, who for many years had lived near Claysville and was married here died. Her mother was a half sister to the many Moore brothers living near Claysville. James T. Conn, about 82 years old dieda t the home of Mr. & Mrs. Will H. Burns, near Kentontown Saturday 5 March and was buried at Kentontown Sunday by the side of his wife and son that died many years ago. His wife was Eliza Whitehead, a sister to Mrs. Archie Duncan of Oddville. Mrs. Burns was his niece with whom he had made his home for many years.
