T. McCauley awarded the contract for broken stone for repairing the pikes last Friday. The successful bidders were: (in part) Sunrise and Havilansville: J. T. Arnold 70 cents a perch. Sunrise and Pugh Ferry: Smith Arnold 50 cents. Sunrise and Claysville: C. C. Six 50 cents. Pg. 5 Col. 2 DEATHS Mrs. Henry C. Bailey, aged 58 years, died at the family resicnece in this county Momnday, May 4, after a protracted illness of a complication of diseases. She was formerly Miss Louisa Kendall, daughter of William and Elizabeth Kendall and was born in Bourbon Co. Twenty four years ago she married Mr. Henry C. Bailey, who survives. with two sons and three daughters: namely, Harry and Sidney Bailey of this county; Mrs. C. W. Hicks of Bristoe, Arizona; Mrs. F. M. Craig and Mrs. J. P. Ammerman. Deceased was sister of Mrs. James Kendall and Mrs. Robert Whiteker, of this county. Buried in Battle Grove. Mr. Wm. Dills, a venerable citizen, died Tuesday in Kansas City, at the age of 81 years. He was a native of this county, having moved to Missouri some twenty years ago. He is survived by his wife which is a sister of Mrs. G. H. Givens, of Cynthiana. While here he was a dealer in fine horses, his father, David Dills, having been the owner of the famous horse, Old Indian Chief. The remains were brought here yesterday and interred at Battle Grove Cem. Mr. Mort Harney, a well known and highly regarded citizen of the Bobtown vicinity, died of paralysis at his home Wednesday afernoon. He is survived by three sons, Sherman, Routt (Bob), and Heiner Harney. His wife died some years ago. The funeral services will be held at the Old Field Cemetery today at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Wright. Miss Mary Pogue, of Boyd died Saturday at Phoenix, AZ, where she had gone to seek relief from that dread disease, consumption. She graduated from Midway Orphan Shcool four years ago and taught in Nicholas County for two years. Last fall she went west accompanied by her sister, Miss Erma Pogue, who was with her when death released her spirit from a frail, suffering body. The remains were expected to arrive at Boyd on the fast line last night, and the funeral sevice will be held at the Methodist church at Boyd this mmorning. The remains will be interred at Pythian Grove Cem. Pg. 5 Col. 3 IN MEMORIAM Harry F. Cason died Mar 7, 1908. Pg. 6 Col. 1 Rutland Born last week to the wife of J. H. Faulconer, a son. Born to the wife of Wm. Howell, a son. Barefoot Born to the wife of Charlie Mattox, an 8 pound daugher, Minnie Florence. Pg. 6 Col. 2 Berry Born to the wife of Mr. Jessie Basket, of Boyd, a daughter. Mr. Henry Huffman is very low with pneumonia. Mrs. Jeff Hill died May 4th at her residence two miles from Berry. Neighboring Counties Bourbon Co. James H. Cunningham, of near Clintonville, died at the residence of his sister, Mrs. W. W. Haley, at an early hour Sunday morning of locomotor ataxia, aged 56 years. He was a bachelor and is survived by two brothrs, Isaac of Lexington and Thomas of WInchester and two sisters, Mrs. W. O. Shropshire, of Jacksonville and Mrs. W. W. Haley. Robt. Lane, aged 22, who died of consumption in New Youk, was buried at Paris Cem. Monday. Nicholas Co. Mrs. Eliz Buntin, Aged 90, died in the county May 2, Burial in Carlisle. Died in Carlisle Tuesday April 27, Major S. Trumbo, aged 80 years. Pg. 7 Col. 1 Pedro John Martin, of Richland, was the guest of his son-in-law at this place Sunday. Mr. & Mrs. Jim Kenney are entertaining a new son, 11½ pounds. Pleasant Green Born, on the 2nd, to the wife of J. H. Faulconer, a son. Pg. 7 Col. 2 Barterville We had a telephone message Saturday morning informing us of the death of Mrs. McDonald, mother of Mrs. Ross Snapo, formerly of this place. Boyd Born to the wife of Mr. J. S. Basket, a big girl. A sad message came to our town last Saturday saying that Miss Mary Pogue was dead. She will be brought back here for burial. Pg. 7 Col. 3 Sadieville Mrs. Susan Gillespie, aged 77 years, died in Bracken Co. She is survived by 9 children. Licking Valley Miss May Ziglar's funeral will be preached at Wagoner's Chapel Sunday May 31st by Rev. J. E. Wright of Covington.
