We are glad that Mr. E. Dunn's new store building will soon be completed. Opossum Trot Mr. John King and wife were the guest of their parents, Mr. & Mrs. S. R. Johnael Saturday and Sunday. The death angel again came into our community and took one of the loved ones away. On Friday morning about 1 p.m. March 6th, 1908 Uncle Jake Lenox spirit too its flight heavenward to the God who gave it. Uncle Jake was liked by all who knew him. His remains were taken to Barlow Cem and his funeral sermon was delivered by Rev. Samuel Foley, of Falmouth. He leaves a wife and ten children of whom five are girls and five are boys. Pg. 5 Col. 3 DEATHS Mrs. Ed Dunaway, nee Cason died of consumption in the western part of the county. Sister Susan Ecklar, widow of Bro. Samuel Ecklar, was 76 years of age and died at her home near Boyd, KY, Harrison Co. March 2nd, 1908. For about 60 years she has been a member of the Baptist Church. Burial in Pythian Grove Cem. Harry Cason, son of John Cason, died of consumption. See Leeslick items. Francis Lenox, better known as "Jake" Lenox, died at his home near Avena, Harrison Co. KY on the night of Thursday, March 5, 1908. He was born May 8, 1848, was one of 10 children, all of whom died before him except Mrs. Ann Maria Barlow of Sunrise. He was the father of 10 children, all of whom but one are yet living. He was married three times. The firs marriage was to Miss Elizabeth Barnes, in April 1868, the second to Miss Nancy E. Whalen in October 1879, and the third to Mrs. Nannie E. Rogers in February 1896. His last wife survives him. He joined the Christian Church at McKinneysburg about 45 years ago. Mr. Richard Brand died Wednesday. He was about 74 years old and married Miss Fannie Hendricks, 44 years ago. Mrs. Brand died of heart failure on Feb. 29. Mr. Brand leaves one daughter, Mrs. Fannie Dills, of Kansas, and three sons, Dr. Lester Brand of Maysville, Prof. Edward Brand, of Georgia and Keller A. Brand. Burial in Jacksonville. Rutland The sudden death of Riley Fryman, which occurred here last Wednesday morning was a sad shock to his friends and relatives. He was 54 years old and leaves a wife and several small children. Pg. 6 Col. 1 Connersville Riley Fryman, age about 50 years, died suddenly at his home near here. He leave a widow and several children. Leeslick J. T. Cummins has rented the Silas Box property on Main Street. Died on March 7th, Harry Cason. He had the prospect of a long and prosperous life, but that dreaded disease consumption, laid its clutches upon him and he was forced to go. He was the son of Mr. John Cason. Burial took place at the Family Burying ground on Monday. Pg 6 Col. 2 Pedro Mr. & Mrs. Ish Williams are entertaining a brand new son. A lady of the neighborhood could not attend church on Sunday and she sent her little boy and urgently admonished him to remember as much of the sermon and report. He heard the preacher read; "Why stand ye here idle? Go labor in my vineyard and it will be well with thee." And the text was: "An Angel came down from Heaven and took a live coal from the altar." while the hymn they sang was "The Cross that I Bear." He returned home much elated because he could rememberd so much. He said the preacher read something about the Boss who came along and said: "What are you standing round here for doing nothing? Go into my barnyard and go to work, and I will make it alright with you." He said the text was: "An Indian came down from New Haven, took a live colt by the tail and jerked it our of the halter," that they sang something about a cross eyed bear. Pg. 6 Col. 4 Barefoot Cray, the little son of Mr. Willie Coy, was called on the 5th to meet his twin brother, Ray, who died one month ago. Burial at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery on the 6th. Pg. 6 Col. 5 Corinth Rev. Davis, of Richmond, came over and preached the funeral sermon of Henry True, who died at Donerail. He leaves a widow, nee Steve, and 6 children. This made seven funerals for Rev. Davis in seven days. Charlie Rowland, 33, unmarried and highly respected citizen, died of a brief illness. W. J. Laughlin, of Cynthiana, was here last week setting monuments for Messrs Morgan, Beard, Odor and others.
