Morgan Statue. Among the number were: Mrs. Frank Wells, Misses Julia and Maggie Desha, Mrs. L.S. Givens, Miss Margaret Cromwell, Mrs. George H. Howk, Miss Nazzie Bigstaff, Mrs. Will Leek, Mrs. C. A. Renaker, Miss Mattie Remington, Mrs. H.D. Frisble Jr., Mrs. Hanson Peterson and Mrs. R. V. Bishop. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 19 Oct 1911 Vol. 44 No. 4 Pg. 1 Col. 3 Married Zilar – Gossett Miss Lucy Zilar and Mr. Ed R. Gossett were married at the home of bride’s aunt, Mrs. Ella Davis on North Church street in this city Tuesday afternoon. Witnesses to the ceremony were Mrs. David and Miss Mary Gilgus Jameson, a cousin of the brids. Bride is the daughter of the late Wm. H. And fannie Robertson Zilar. Mrs. Gossett is the sone of Mr. Reuben Gossett of this county. He is a bookkeeper at the Harrison Deposit Bank, a member of the city council and a good looking clever fellow. Million – Gregg Mr. Irvine B. Gregg and Miss Emma L. Million were married Wednesday at the home of the bride in this county. The groom is the son of Esquire Jos. Gregg and the bride is the daughter of A. Million. Willis – Heacock At the home of Mrs. Kathryn Willis, Cynthiana, Tuesday, Oct 17th, at 3 p.m. her daughter Miss Mattye Lee Wilis married Dr. Raymond E. Heacock of Tatany, PA. Rev. Joel Lee Jones, of Cropper, KY a former classmate of the bride and a colleague in the Cynthiana High School graduating class of 1907, pronounced the wedding ceremony. The Bridal tour will rout via Cincinnati, Columbus, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Easton and Home to PA. He is a graduate of The Eclectic Medical College, Cincinnati, and first time met his bride while they were attending college four years ago. Hazelwood – Wiglesworth The engagement has been announced of Miss Anna Belle Hazelwood of Covington and Mr. William Goodloe Wiglesworth, of Cynthiana with the wedding taking place in November. Last Chance to Wed Estelle Hamilton, a schoolgirl heiress, of Brooksville, KY was taken Sunday night to Thomasville, GA by J. E. Robertson, Jeweler, of Augusta, KY who is her guardian. The girl will be placed in a boarding school because her sweetheart failed to arrive in Cincinnati, Sunday. Robertson had consented to the girl’s marriage, but changed his plans when the man failed to appear. – Cincinnati Post. Deaths Mrs. Louisa Burns, age 78, widow of Edward Burns, died Saturday at her residence on the Breckinridge pike. Burial in Battle Grove. Daniel Parker Kearns, age 74, died Sunday of dropsy at his home in Harrison Co. Survived by wife and several children. (Not named) Burial in Curry. Justice John Marshall Harlan, of the Supreme Court, died Wednesday. Born 1 Jun 1833 in Boyle County KY. Served on the court for 34 years. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 19 Oct 1911 Vol. 44 No. 4 Pg. 1 Col. 5 Morningglory Genevieve Blach Harney, daughter of Hiner Harney of Bobtown 12 Oct 1911. She was age 2 months 4 days. Burial in Mt. Pleasant. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 19 Oct 1911 Vol. 44 No. 4 Pg. 1 Col. 6 Claysville (Ella Minor Hitch) On Friday of last week, Judge Clark, of Falmouth and his cousin, Mrs. Patterson of Brookville, IN came to Claysville to view the landscape o'er. Mrs. Patterson was a daughter of Newton Moore. She was born here and at the age of four her parents moved to Cincinnati. Her grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Stephens, died with the cholera and are buried in one grave near the old stone warehouse in Claysville. She also has a brother and sister buried across the creek in the Claysville graveyard. Newton Moore was a clerk in the store of the late Stephen B. Curren. Ashel Clark, father of the judge, lived here with his mother who was a Rawlins. At her death he was taken and raised by "Uncle" Sammy Snodgrass. In his early manhood he became a Confederate Soldier. After the war he went to Falmouth, became a lawyer and lived his life there. It was our misfortune that we did not meet the Judge and Mrs. Patterson. We telephoned him in Falmouth and learned a few facts but most information came from Charles Hitch who was a school mate of Ashel Clark, and well acquainted with Newton Moore. Willis Duncan Cain, son of William and Mary Whitley Cain born 17 Feb 1882, died Oct 1911. Burial in Battle Grove where his father was buried eight years ago. He leaves a wife, nee Grace Reeves, and two children (not named). His mother and two sisters, Mrs. Emma Toadvine and Mrs. Dan Whitley, all living near each other. Mrs. G. W. Florence and son Herbert and daughter, Nannie, Mrs. Frank JOnes and daughter, Florence, of near Cynthiana, came down Monday for the funeral of Aunt Minta Wheeler. She was near the age of their father, Mr. Tom Lee and felt like one of the family. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 19 Oct 1911 Vol. 44 No. 4 Pg. 1 Col. 6 Lebus outbids Haggin The first time that James R. Haggin knows Clarence Lebus will own Green Hills, Elmendorf, the model diary and everything else in that neighborhood. Monday J. K. Newman, the well known trotting horse breeder, sold his Clairborne stock farm of 348 acres about four miles from Lexington on the Russell Cave pike at public auction. It was bought for $220 an acre by Clarence LeBus president of the Burley Tobacco Society. James B. Haggin, who owns the Elmendorf stock farm near Lexington was the contending bidder. The place is nearly all bluegrass sod and having been used as a stock farm for many years the land is in exceptionally fertile condition. Mr. LeBus intends to plant a large part of it in tobacco. Cynthiana Democrat Thurs 19 Oct 1911 Vol. 44 No. 4 Pg. 2 Col. 3 A Golden Wedding The Bowling Green, Missouri, Times, 12 Oct says: On October 5, 1861, in Hambleton, Ohio, Mr. Henry Bascom Tucker led to the hymenal altar the beautiful Miss Sarah Louse Kinslear. Four children came to bless their lives. Two little grand-daughters were added to give them joy in the declining years, Eloise Elmore and Heleen Henderson. The youngest daughter is married to Ola D. Granville Worrel has sold out “hook and line, “ selling at public auction last Saturday his personal property. He sold his farm some days ago to John Mullin, getting $5,000 for it. Robertson a block of wood, fron the house in which Mrs. R. S. Robertson lives, on which was the name “Tom Barnett” carved there 102 years ago when the house was built. Daughter of Ed. Henderson, age 4, died at Moorefield of typhoid fever. Scott Co. Miss Lutie Shelton, age 17, died at Newtown from typhoid fever. Henry M. Long, age 43, died at Athens, GA. He was son of the late James Long of Scott Co. Mrs. Eliza Hockersmith Gatewood, age 73, died in Frankfort. She is survived by eight children. (Not named) Mrs. Dulcenia Payne Johnson, age 79, died near Shepherdsville. She was born at Great Crossing, and was the daughter of Gen. William Johnson. Pendleton Co. Mr. Scott Taylor and Miss Mattie Saben were married Wednesday 4 October at the residence of Rev. George H. Harris of Lexington, KY. The wedding of Miss Jesse Chapman and Mr. Ed. Ruber was solemnized Tuesday at the homne of the bride’s parents at Bethel. L. D. Hall, charged with murder of Elijah Woods held to grand jury. Born to wife of Lafe McGuire, a son; to wife of Seymour Elliot nee Clara Massey, a son. October wedding of interest was solomnized at the home of the bride’s parents, near town, on last Sunday when the lives of Mr. Thomas Jacobs and Miss Bertie Wilson were made one. Mrs. Margaret Fields, age 34, widow of Jams Fields died near Concord fo TB. Clarence Stith, of Greensburg, IN formerly of this county married Miss Lulu Edmonson of Covington. Bourbon Co. Mr. James Atwood Saunders Jr., of Parkersburg, WV and Miss Jennie M. Whaley, was solemnized at the home of the bride’s father on the Ruddell’s Mills pike. Benjamin G. Paton, age 65, died Friday in Lexington. Son of the late James Paton. Henry Watson died Friday at Kenney Station. Age 42 and a bachelor. Mrs. Minnie Bannister died near Little Rock, of TB. Age 25. Buried at Sharpsburg. Mrs. Robert H. Innes died at Austin, TX 3 Oct 1911. She was born in Bourbon Co. on 19 Aug 1829. Married Mr. Innes in 1840. (DH: At age 11??) Mrs. Eliza Ann Clark, age 79, died at the home of her son, James B. Clark near Plum. At the Soldiers Home in Dayton, OH, last week, Mr. William Gibson, formerly a resident of Paris, died of old age. He was brother-in-law of the late Mr. W. A. Hill Sr. Mrs. Elizabeth Dodson, age 75, died in Millersburg of a long illness of rheumatism.
