Berry, died at his home near Berry, Saturday morning. Born 2 April 1863 in Fayette Co. son of John M. and Louisa Berry. His father had been sheriff of Harrison Co. and died 20 years ago suddenly of heart trouble. His mother survives. His widow, Miss Norma Snell, daughter of John and America Snell, also survives. There are two children, a boy and a girl (not named). Survived by two sisters, Mrs. Asa Jewell of Lexington and Mrs. John M. Cromwell of Cynthiana. Brothers surviving were: Baily D. Berry of Lexington, Robt. H. Berry of Bellingham, WA. Buried at Battle Grove. Mrs. James A. Whalen. See Claysville and Richland Items. Joseph A. Thorn died at his home on Millersburg pike at Battle Grove, Saturday, 21 Sep 1912. Buried at Battle Grove. Son of James and Susan McClintock Thorn and was born in Bourbon Co. near Millersburg on 20 Dec 1852. Married Lyda McKee, daughter of Jas. W. McKee, of Harrison Co. on 8 Nov 1881. Wife and two children survive: Ernest Thorn of Cynthiana, and Mrs. Obie Rose of South Carolina. Superintendent of Battle Grove Cem. at one time. Mrs. W. W. Trimble, widow of Judge W. W. Trimble died in New York City Friday home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Ludlow. Over four score years old. Two sons and three daughters survive: Will and Robert Trimble, Mrs. Kate Woolsey, Mrs. Fackler and Mrs. Highton. Buried in Cynthiana. Cynthiana Democrat 26 Sep 1912 Thursday Vol. 65 No. 1 Pg. 2 Col. 2 Green R. Keller, editor of the Carlisle Mercury and Representative in the state Legislature from the Nicholas–Robertson legislative district. Died in Carlisle on Wednesday, age 65. Born in Harrison Co. on 27 May 1847, son of Noah and Elizabeth Keller. Founder of the Cynthiana Democrat in 1868. He enlisted in Co. B. Fifth Kentucky Cavalry, in the brigade of Gen. Buford in Sept. 1862. Later he was transferred to the command of General John Hunt Morgan. He was captured in the Morgan raid into Ohio and was in a Union prison for fourteen months. Survived by his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Smith of Cynthiana, and two sons: Dr. Hervey Keller of Frankfort and Stanley Keller, junior editor of the Carlisle Mercury. His wife died a number of years ago. Whalen 24 Dec 1894 died at their home at Sunrise, KY on 20 Sep 1912. She was daughter of Tompkins and Ann Maria Lenox Barlow. Her mother died a few weeks ago. Her father and three brothers: Alfred, Sam and John, survive. She also leaves husband and three daughters. (Not named) Buried at Sunrise. Cynthiana Democrat 26 Sep 1912 Thursday Vol. 65 No. 1 Pg. 6 Col. 1 Neighboring counties Scott Co. Died: Mrs. Elizabeth Rogers, 43; Mrs. Matilda Wise Bourbon Co. Elmer Smith of Paris was killed by cars at Butler. Murray Jones, Colored, was shot and killed by Mack Jones near Paris. Died at Jacksonville, FL, Sister Mary Ambrosia, formerly Miss Maloney of Paris. Pendleton Co. Elmer Smith, 18, son of late Dan Smith of Falmouth, was run over and killed by cars at Butler. His mother, Mrs. Ida Smith, resides in Paris. Died: Mrs. W. R. Oliver, 36; G. S. Rardin, 80; Mrs. Wilson Darlington. Wedding at the home of Mr. & Mrs. W. T. Shewalter, when Willie Cummins of Bradford, claimed Miss America Shewalter for his bride. Rev. Pfanstiel, of Brooksville pronounced them man and wife. Cynthiana Democrat 26 Sep 1912 Thursday Vol. 65 No. 1 Pg. 7 Col. 3 Richland Mr. & Mrs. Robert Price and daughter, Celia, of Pendleton and Mrs. Nan Kearns and sons, Henry and Will, of Jasper Co. IL were guests of John Whalin and family Saturday and Sunday. Henry and Will gave many entertainments in the county last year and those that heard them then will be anxious to hear them again. Died in her home near Sunrise, on Friday Morning, 20 Sep. Mrs. Adda Barlow Whalin, wife of James Whalin. Besides her husband she leaves three daughters (not named) and three brothers, Sam Barlow of Avena, John of Havilandsville, and Alfred of Berry. He father also survives, Tompkins Barlow, Berry.
