At the Hart County courthouse in Munfordville, KY, county seat for Hart County, there are no land records before 1928, and no birth, death, marriage, court recordings or other miscellaneous records either. The task of tracing a Hart County genealogy is formidable. A devastating fire destroyed the records and the process of recreating land records occurs with every land sale and transaction even today. The closest community is Priceville, KY; and is a small crossroads community. The cemetery is 1.5 acres and kept in good order, there are patches of orange day lilies, peony bushes and a large rosebush marking some of the older stones. Scattered throughout this cemetery are markers of fieldstones, with neither names nor dates. This extraction for the Smith Cemetery began on Monday 16 June 2003 as a family project by Eugenia Johnson & family. Every effort has been made to be accurate.
