The letter was referring to thier mother, Catherine Greene (Orange) Harrod (1820-1867). The letter was written 19 days before Catherine Greene Orange Harrod die. This letter was recently found in Nancy Josephine "Josie Harrod Edwards' pocket book in NJ. Nancy Josephine "Josie" (Harrod) Edwards lived in the Dog Creek area of Hart Co., KY. Her husband was William Asbury Edwards. This the 17nth Sep 1867 Dier Sister I seat my self to drop you afew lines to let you know that wee are all well except Mother and she has bin ageting worse for moor than a wwak. she is knot confined to her bed all the time tho is very porley. I hope she will get well yet and want you all to come as soone as you can Josie. Mother sals as quick as you can spare Greney and Do with out her handy she wants you to send her hom and I meust close fore ???? tell caley to rite and you rite andsend a leter by Mr. Rundle and let us know how you are Josie. we gote aleter from that DoCtor and he said for a them to meet him at Cave City the 29 of this Month and if you can get that Money we will need it to pay him if you can get it. be suer and rit to us ???
