The Hart County native was a farmer and a member of Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Avery and an infant son, Raymond Avery. Survivors include two sons Steven Avery, Hardyville, and Shawn Avery, Center; his mother, Irene Avery; a brother, Loren Avery, Tampa, Fla.; three grandchildren: Linsey, MaKenzy and Jared Avery. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2001 at Wilkerson Temple United Methodist Church with Bro. Bob Powell officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
