"Found Dead in Pond. Munfordville, Ky., June 16 "Matilda Bradley, a seventeen year old girl, was found dead in a pond near her home last night. She was missed by family at supper, and search was begun at once. She had been dead but a short time when they found [her]. All attempts at resuscitation were unavailing. A letter was found in the path near the pond, addressed to her sweetheart, saying "meet me in the better world." She had been melancholy for several days. Her people are plain, hard working folks, who came from Mason county and located a few miles west of here about three years ago." Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 24 June 1896.
