"Bill" Poston, 77, of Merriam KS, died peacefully at his home Wednesday, January 23, 2002, surrounded by loved ones. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, January 26, at Bristol Hill United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, at the Maple Hill Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Kansas City Hospice, 12006 W. 87th Street Parkway, Levexa, KS 66215. Bill was born February 24, 1924, in Topeka KS. After graduating from Seaman High School, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He was a veteran of the Pacific theater in World War II. Upon his return from military duty, Bill married his high school sweetheart Geraldine Harmon on January 27, 1946. He retired from the the U.S. Postal Service, in 1987, were he was employed for over 30 years. He was a long time member of Bristol Hill United Methodist CHurch and truly loved his participation in the church choir. He enjoyed fishing, was an avid fan and supporter of the University of Kansas athletic program, and he loved gatherings and vacations with family. Bill is survived by his wife, Geraldine of the home; daughter, Karen Swearingen of Kansas City, KS; two sons, Michael Polson of Ellicott City, MD and Leslie Polson and wife, Shari of Kansas City, KS. Bill also leaves five grandchildren, Vanita Dexter of Merriam, KY; Duston Poston of Overland Park, KS. Bill also leaves five grandchildren, Vanita Dexter of Merriam, KS, Dustin Poston of Overland Park, KS, Kim Dade of Kansas City, KS; William Polston of Kansas City, KS, James Poston of Kansas City, MO; four great- grandchildren, Carrie Whitsell of Amarillo, TX; Erica Boetteher of Merriam KS, Alexis Dade of Kansas CIty, KY and Noah Poston of Overland Park, KS; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kaitie Chavarria of Amarillo, TX. Husband, father, grandfather, friend, we love and miss you. You'll be with us always.
