He was a retired farmer, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Philpott and a member of the Cave Springs Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mabel Polston Philpott, Route 1, Bonnieville; three daughters, Rene Childress, Brownsville, Donna Rugledge, Hardyville, Melissa Philpott, at home; two sons, Robert Philpott, Hodgenville, Danny Philpott, at home; three sisters, Mrs. goldie Hayes, Mrs. Ethel Russell and Mrs. Bertha Bryant, all of Horse Cave; two brothers, clyde Philpott, Hodgenville, Carl Philpott, Cave City; three step daughters, Wilma Dennis, Bonnieville; Bonnie Welder, Camner; Riga Riggs, Hodgenville; a step son, Harvey Logsdon, Horse Cave; 16 grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Stearman Funeral Home in Munfordville with the Rev. James Jackson officiating. Burial was in the Concord Cemetery.
