"Mrs. Elmore Winn, who lives near Horse Cave, in Hart County, about twelve miles north of Glasgow, met with a very sad misfortune last Sunday morning in the unexpected and brief but fatal ilness of a nearly grown son. Clem, the son alluded to was at the fair here Friday, complained of feeling unwell during the day but not seriously. He left town about sundown, and on the way home was suddenly attacked with severe pains in his breast, so much so that a gentleman with him insisted and finally pursuaded to take a small drink of brandy which temporarily relieved him. On reaching home he was complaining so much that he was given an opiate and put to bed. In the night a brother who was in bed with him discovered his alarming condition and reported at once to the family. A physician was called, but the sufferer was beyond the reach of remedy and lived only a few hours, dying early Saturday apparantely of some affliction of the lungs. He was buried on Sunday a few miles below town at the family burying ground." Glasgow (KY) Weekly Times, 14 Oct 1875
