Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 6th ed., 1887, Henry Co. SMALLWOOD ECTON was born in Clark County, Ky., May 13, 1819, where he resided until he was twenty years old. He then moved to Henry County and located on a farm, the pursuits of which he followed until two years ago, when he sold out and bought a house in Pleasureville, where he now resides. His parents, Thomas and Sarah (Kelley) Ecton, were, respectively, natives of Virginia and Kentucky, the former emigrating from his native state and locating in Clark County, Ky., about 1796. His grandfather, Smallwood Ecton, was also born in Virginia, and served under Washington in the Revolutionary war. In 1848 our subject was united in marriage with Millie Curtis, of Clark County, and one child has blessed their union--James. Mr. Ecton is a member of the Methodist Church, a Good Templar and a Democrat.
