He first enter the service of his country from Barclay County in the state of Virginia in the month of March of the year 1779 as a substitute for his father Thomas Bishop for a tour of six month duration in the Company under the Command of Captain Thomas Catlett. They first rendezvoused at Bonbrook in the state of New Jersey and the said Pensioner was then attached to the regiment under the Command of Colonel Phibecker and also under the Command of General Woodford.They were then stationed at Smiths Cove on the Hudson River and they were at that place during battle of Stoney Point. After that expedition he served in a tour and Volunteered as a Substitute under the Command of the same Officers for a tour of nine months duration about the month of September of the year 1779. The said Pensioner was then detached with the regiment under the Command of Colonel Lee Against Bowles Hook at Hackensack in the state of New Jersey to serve under the Command of Captain Cattell. After this tour of service he was Honorably discharged and there upon returned to his home. In the year 1780 he removed to Woodford in the state of Kentucky and from there in the month of March the year 1781 he again entered the serve of his County as a private Volunteer in the Company to serve under the Command of Captain Berry for a tour of Six months duration against the Indians. In the month of April of the year 1782 he again enter the service of his County to serve in the Company under the Command Captain Calloway and Volunteered for a tour of six months duration to serve in the capacity of a Spy and Scout against the Indians. On this tour the said pensioner was frequently at Boones Station as wellas a Bryants Station. He had been born in Arnold County in the state of Maryland in the years 1780 and stated he had lived in Henry County in the state of Kentucky since the year 1780. On his first tour of duty he had acted as a substitute for his father and the remainder of his tours he had entered the serve as a Volunteer. He stated in Open Court and upon his Oath that he remembered General Washington, General Lee, General Morgan, General Wayne, Colonel Lee, Colonel Willbecker(*Note * Looks Like Willbeck Colonel Stokes, Colonel Level and Colonel Woodford. Charles Huges and William McCrackin Swear that at one time they were both well and favorably aquatinted with him and they also Stated before an Open Court and upon their Oaths that in the neighborhood in which he resided he was reputed to have severed the United States of America during the war of the Revolution. Stephen Bowen, Francis E.Skidmore and Elizabeth Skidmore Swear that at the time they both well and favorably acquainted with the said pensioner and they also Certify as to his Character. The brother of said pensioner, Solomon Bishop, Swear that his brother really served as he stated and he also says that he himself served with him for part of tour and his tours and he also states that his brother the said pensioner, Elisha Bishop served not less than fifteen months in all. Nicholas Smith Swears that he really served as he stated and also stated that his brother, George Smith, served with the said pensioner, Elisha Bishop and Mary Smith also that the said pensioner really served as he had stated. There was an inquiry about the said Elisha Bishop on July 6 of the year 1925 from a woman name of Mrs. A. H. Hall of 215 Denison Hotel at Indianapolis in the state of Indiana. The said pensioner, Elisha Bishop was on the Kentucky Roll of Pensions at the rate of $80.00 per annum and his Certificate of pension for that amount was issued on January 4 of the year 1833 and it was there upon sent to the Honorable R.
