Notley Gore

State of Kentucky
County of Hickman

On this <day of October 1832 personally appeared in open court before the Honorable R______ 
Davidge, Judge of the Hickman Circuit court and state aforesaid Notley Gore a resident of the 
County & State aforesaid who being duly sworn aged 79 years who being duly sworn according to 
the law doth, on his oath, make the following declaration, in order to obtain the benefit of the 
provisions of an act of Congress passed June 7th 1832 that he enlisted in the Army of the United 
States on September 1777 or 78 with Captain James Pedigrew and served in the Minute regiment of 
the Georgia line and served under the following named officer ________, Notley Gore states he was 
born June 10th 1753 in the state of Maryland & when quite a babe his parents moved to South 
Carolina to the District of Camden.  Here he was raised and in the year 1777-1778 enlisted under
Captain James Pedigrew, Lieut John Long & Ensign Irving Campbell.  Samuel Jack was his Colonel. 
He marched from the District of Camden to the Station on Little River in the state of Georgia 
where he staid eight months.  From thence to Augusta where he remained two months and then, it 
was agreed to send the married men home on parole & take the young men on an expedition to 
Florida.  He (Gore) being married returned & when the remainder of the troops returned from 
Flordia they were paroled & 20 remained until the time of two years for which he was enlisted had 
expired.  He moved from Camden to Laurence County, from thence to Greene County in Kentucky where 
he resided some 35 years and from thence removed here about seven years


He hereby relinquishes all claim whatever to a pension or annuity except
The present and declares his name is not on the pension roll of any agency of the United States.   
Sworn & subscribed to this day & year aforesaid.

We, Samuel Gibson a clergyman & Benjamin Jones, both residents of Hickman County & state aforesaid 
do hereby certify that we are well acquainted with Notley Gore and believe him to be seventy nine 
years the age he represents himself to be in the foregoing declaration to which he has signed his 
name & sworn to & that he is generally reputed to have been a soldier of the revolution we concur 
in the came opinion

And I R______Davidge Judge of the said court do hereby declare my opinion that the above named 
applicant was a Revolutionary Soldier and served as he stated.

foregoing contains the original proceedings of the said court in matter of the application of 
Notley Gore for a pension
