Mahaney, 28 Dec 1851 Hickman County, KY - History of Kentucky, pg 270 E.P. ROBERTS, born 13 Feb 1839 in Mason Co., VA. moved with his parents to Cincinnati, Ohio when age six. He spent 25 years "Steamboating" on the Mississippi. In 1870 he was mate on steamboat "St. Louis". In 1871 he became a pilot and was still active in 1885. In 1863 he was in the Mississippi Marine Brigade (Union Army) as a carpenter and remained in this capacity until the close of the war. In 1870 he married Sallie J. Hunter of Mound City, Illinois. Issue: 3 sons, 2 daughters. JOHN D. ROBERTS (pg 270) lived in Columbus, Kentucky. He was born 23 Feb 1845, the only child of John and Sabina (Dunlap) Roberts. John D. was born in Shreveport, LA. John, the father, was a native of Texas; Sabina Dunlap, a native of Indiana. THOMAS J. ROBERTS (pg 271), born 19 Aug 1835 in Weakley Co., TN, where he lived until 1872, then to Moscow, KY. He married 11 June 1867 to Alice G. Beadles. Their issue: Richard S., Joseph T., Blanche E., Edward, and Lura D. RICHARD ROBERTS, son of WILLIAM ROBERTS and father of THOMAS J. ROBERTS (above) was a native of Chesterfield County, VA. He died in Weakley Co., TN in 1857, age 49; he married Jane Farmer, daughter of William F. Farmer of Weakley Co., TN.
