The Charleston, Missouri Courier

22 Feb 1861: "The Hickman Courier has the following for the benefit of the
farmers, which is quite refreshing in these stormy times: H.W.Caruthers, of
Hickman Co., Ky., to whom was awarded a diploma for the best guber peas..."

12 April 1861: "Fire at Hickman - On Saturday night last, a most disastrous
fire occurred at Hickman(formerly Mill's Point), Kentucky, The fire
originated in the old stable, just above the wharf boat, and burnt out
three squares before it was stopped. ...".

21 June 1861: "...The ferry boat *Elite* is running regularly from Belmont,
Mo., to Columbus, Ky, being known as the Iron Banks Ferry..."

15 Nov 1861: "The big gun, called the Big Rebel, carrying a ball weighing
128 pounds at Columbus, Ky., burst into pieces on Monday last, killing
eight men..."

31 May 1861: "Married on Wednesday, May 22nd, at Norfolk, in Mississippi
County, Mo., by James H. Naive, Esq., Mr. Jacob N. Bondurant of Kentucky to
Miss Mary T. Adams of Norfolk, Mo."
