He was working at the Lewis Lumber Company, helping unload a truck, when he was stricken with a heart attack and died before a doctor could arrive. He was a long time resident of Hickman County and had been employed on several farms and a couple of saw-mills in the area. He was buried on Saturday, November 29 in the Clinton Cemetery after services at the First Methodist Church, with Brother O. C. Wrather, pastor officiating. Services were under the direction of Hopkins and Hopkins Funeral Home. He left a son and daughter (not named) and a brother of Missouri. --- (The brother was named James Lonnie Riggs. He was a resident of Mangum, Greer County, Oklahoma.) (According to his death certificate, Claude Riggs was the son of John and Mary Gore Riggs, who were born in Tennessee.
