Selected Tombstone Inscriptions, PLEASANT VIEW Cemetery, Madisonville, Ky Submitted by: Happy Greer When I was visiting in Madisonville in November 1995 I photographed the following tombstones in the Pleasant View Cemetery out by the Pleasant View Baptist Church. That church is where my daddy, John Robert Greer,Sr. and his family went to church when he was a boy. Daddy says the road in front of the cemetery used to be called Shake Rag, but now it is I believe John Hardy Road. Daddy's father, Leman Greer and his twin sister Lenora were taken in by Preacher A.C. Slaton and his wife after their mother Mary E. Greer died in 1901. Leman Greer married Lula E. Chappell and they lived in Pleasant View. Leman's twin sister Lenora Greer married Preacher Slaton's son, Lonnie Slaton and they lived with his folks in Pleasant View for a while, later moving into Madisonville, and then to Evansville, Indiana. Inscriptions on tombstones in PLEASANT VIEW CEMETERY, Pleasant View Baptist Church, Madisonville, Kentucky. Written down in November, 1995 when I was visiting in Madisonville.
