Matties Obituary Scrapbook, page 1 James L Trice, 83, Died Here James Lloyd "Jim" Trice, 83, died at 10:45 am Friday in his home, 117 Cardwell avenue. He was a retired carpenter and farmer who was born in Webster County May 13, 1882. He was a member of Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. Surviving are a son, Finis Trice, 647 Sugg Street; a daughter Mrs Mabel Ford, 117 Cardwell Avenue; two sisters, Mrs Sallie Pate, Brown Rest Home, and Miss Mattie Trice, 117 Cardwell Avenue; 11 grand-children and 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church here. Elder J D Shain will officiate and interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. Friends may call at Harris Funeral Home. ---------- James L Trice Rites On Sunday Funeral services for James L "Jim" Trice, 117 Cardwell Avenue, were held Sunday afternoon at Salem Primitive Baptist Church. Elder J D Shain officiated at the final rites and interment was in Olive Branch Cemetery. Pallbearers were Roy Trice, Howard Trice, Paul Trice, James Trice, Jerry Trice and Arnold Ligon. Harris Funeral Home was in charge. Mr Trice, who was 83, died Friday morning in his home. Mr Trice was 74 years of age and most of his life had been spent on his farm in this county. He was well known throughout the county. The deceased is survived by a wife and ten children, five daughters and five sons, and many grandchildren. The funeral services will be held at the family residence this morning and the remains will be laid to rest in the family burying grounds. ------------ Mr. Dab Trice, Prominent Slaughters Farmer Called To Reward Mr Dab Trice, a prominent and well to do farmer of near Slaughterville, was claimed by death this week. He was seventy years of age. He is survived by a wife and several children. He was a highly respected citizen, a man of high type and had many friends over the county. The remains were buried in the family graveyard Thursday. Yancie Pate, 1880 - 1948 Sallie Pate, 1878 - -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs Elnora Nance Dies Near Hanson Mrs Elinora Virginia Nance, 74, died at 6:30 pm Sunday in the home of her daughter, Mrs Ed Forker, near Hanson, whom she had been visiting six weeks when stricken by illness. Surviving are the husband, C I Nance, Nebo rfd 2; two sons, Thurman Nance, Lemon Nance, Nebo; four daughters, Mrs Claude Joyner, Nebo; Mrs Larry Jones, Slaughters; Mrs Babe Pick, Providence, and Mrs Forker; four brothers, W E Trice, John Trice, James Trice and Tommy Trice, all of Nebo; three sisters, Mrs Yancy Pate, Nebo; Misses Susie and Mattie Trice, Nebo; thirteen grandchildren and two great grand-children. Miss Trice is survived by two sisters, Miss Mattie Trice and Mrs Yancey Pate, Nebo; four brothers, W E Trice, John L Trice, Tom and Jim Trice, all of Nebo, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held in the home Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock with Elder J D Shain, Madisonville, officiating. Burial will be in the Trice family cemetery at Nebo. Surviving are the widow, Mrs Zora Trice; two daughters, Mrs Brooks and Mrs Claud Tow, Sebree; a son J D Trice, Madisonville; three brothers, W E Trice, T M Trice and James Trice, all of Nebo rural route 4; two sisters, Mrs Yancey Pate and Miss Mattie Trice, also of Nebo rural route; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. J L Trice, 1872 - 1945 Zora, 1876 - 19-- -------------------------------------------------------------------------- W E Trice Funeral Held Funeral services for W E Trice, 85, who died at 10 am Friday at the home of his daughter, Mrs Jack Wilson, Nebo, were conducted at 2 pm today at Antioch church near Hanson. Elder J D Shain officiated. Burial was in Strum cemetery. Surviving are the daughter, Mrs Wilson; brother, James Trice, Madisonville; two sisters, Miss Mattie Trice and Mrs Dolly Pate, both of Madisonville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The body was taken last night to the Wilson home from Harris Funeral Home, 134 North Main street, to await the last rites. Matties note: died March 13, 1953.
