Matties Scrapbook of Obituaries, page 2 Mrs Mary Arnold Dies At Age 73 Mrs Mary Susan Arnold, 73, died at 9:30 am today in the home of a daughter, Mrs Martha Noel, Madisonville rfd 2, following three years of ill health. Death resulted from a liver ailment and came after three days of serious illness. Mrs Arnold was the last of eleven children born to Matthew and Mary Yarbrough Daniel, who came to Hopkins county from North Carolina. She had been a member of the Tirza Primitive Baptist church since she was fourteen years old. Surviving are two sons, Herman Arnold, Lexington; Johnny Arnold, Hanson rfd 2, and five daughters, Mrs Irma Siria, Madisonville rfd 2; Mrs George Siria, Hanson street, Madisonville; Mrs G A Carneal, 329 South Madison avenue; Mrs Ben Rhew, 312 Murray street, and Mrs Noel. Her husband, T L Arnold, died in 1919. The body was taken this afternoon from the S T Harris Funeral Home, 224 North Main, to the home of Mrs Noel to await the funeral. Funeral arrangements are to be completed tonight or Friday morning. [Burial information not located] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs Fannie Anderson Died This Morning Mrs Fannie Anderson, 85, died shortly before noon today in the home of a daughter, Mrs Claude Melton, Hodge street, following a long period of ill health. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm Sunday at the Primitive Baptist church, South Kentucky avenue. Elder J D Shain will officiate. Burial will be in Poplar Grove cemetery, McLean county. Pallbearers were J T Anderson, Maurice Anderson, Sam Anderson, Tom Anderson, Raymond Anderson and Clyde Melton, grandsons of Mrs Anderson. Surviving are a son, Rev. W T Anderson, Logan, WV, and two daughters, Mrs Melton and Mrs James Hoover, both of Madisonville, thirteen grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, John Worthington, Eldorado, Arkansas. [Need burial information] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- D A Allinder, 72, Stroke Victim D A Allinder, 72, Manitou rfd 1 farmer, died at 8:30 am today in his home from the effects of a paralytic stroke he suffered several days ago. Surviving are the widow, Mrs Fanny Allinder; two children, Gordon Allinder and Hazel Allinder, both of Madisonville; brother, Lucian Allinder, Manitou, and two sisters, Mrs John Simms and Mrs Sallie Frederick, both of this city. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Wednesday in Oakley Home church, near Manitou, Rev. O L Duncan, Manitou, will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. [Note: I did not locate burial information] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- William H Arnold Dies In Birmingham William M Arnold, of Birmingham, Ala., former resident of Hopkins county, died in Birmingham, Jan. 8, at the age of 64. Funeral was conducted at the Ensley Baptist Church, of which he had been a member some time. Burial was at Elmwood cemetery, Birmingham, with a Masonic service at the grave. Mr Arnold was a member of Ensley lodge No. 560, A.F.&A.M., also Woodlawn Chapter No. 146, R.A.M., Woodlawn Council No. 75 R.& S.M.; Cyrenne Commandery No. 10 K.T., and also Zamora Temple A.& A.O.N.M.S. Funeral was conducted by Dr. C B Miller, assisted by Rev. Theo Harris and Rev. W C Kirk. The large beautiful church was filled with his many friends, and the altar was completely covered with many beautiful floral designs. There was also a very large crowd to attend the service at the grave. The deceased is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie L Arnold; four sons, Otto L Arnold, W Hollis Arnold, Cecil V Arnold and G Raymond Arnold, one daughter, Mrs F E Marshall, all of Birmingham; two brothers, E F Arnold, Birmingham, and A H Arnold, East St. Louis, Ill; and two sisters, Mrs Lige Orton, Evansville, Ind, and Mrs Ila L Agee of Madisonville. Mr Arnold also is survived by four grandchildren and one great- grandchild, all of Birmingham, and a host of friends in Birmingham as well as many relatives and friends in Hopkins county. [Need burial information] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ila Agee Dies Early Friday Ila Agee, 52, 411 North Seminary street, money order clerk at the Madisonville post office for the past twenty three years, died at 4 am today in his home. Mr Agee had been ill since last August, suffering from a kidney ailment, and his condition had been critical for several days. Mr Agee was born May 22, 1892 near Madisonville, and was the only child of Mr and Mrs J C Agee, 141 North Seminary. When eighteen years of age he became associated with the Madisonville post office as city mail carrier and had been an employee there ever since. Since childhood Mr Agee had been a member of the First Methodist church, and for many years had been an active member of Eureka Camp No. 25 Woodmen of the World. Funeral Sunday He married Miss Delcia Arnold November 1, 1914, and to this union two children were born, James L Agee, Louisville, and Mrs R T Twombly, Denver, Colorado. Other survivors beside the widow, children and parents includes a grand-daughter, Rebecca Jean Agee, Louisville. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Sunday in the home. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children. Interment was in the Daniel burying ground, near the home of the deceased, Wednesday morning. [Did not locate burial information] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- David Arnold Dies After Motor Crash David Arnold, 30, son of Mrs Susan Arnold, South Madison avenue, who had traveled throughout the United States and much of Canada and Mexico as a "cowboy troubador," singing and playing his own accompaniments on a guitar, died at one o'clock this morning in Detroit from effects of injuries suffered in an automobile crash Thursday morning enroute to his job in war industry. He had been living in Detroit eight months, after several months in California. The body will be brought to Madisonville for funeral and burial, the family said today. Other survivors include; two brothers, Herman Arnold, Lexington, and John Arnold, Madisonville rfd 2; and five sisters, Mrs George Siria, Hanson street; Mrs George Carneal, South Madison avenue; Mrs Charles Siria, Madisonville rfd 1; Mrs Ben Rhew, Murray street, and Mrs Michael Noel, near Manitou. ----------- David Arnold Buried Funeral for David Crockett Arnold, 32, former Madisonville resident who died Friday morning in Detroit from injuries he received the day before in a car crash, was conducted at 2 pm Monday in Madisonville Primitive Baptist Church. Elders Pilot Clayton and J D Shain officiated. Burial was in Lutz cemetery, near Manitou. The body arrived in Madisonville on No. 53, L & N southbound passenger train, and was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs Ben Rhew, Murray street, until the funeral hour. [Burial information not located] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- James F Anderson Dies Early Today James Franklin Anderson, 62, died at 4:45 am today in his home, Hodge street, from a stomach hemorrhage with which he was stricken at 5 am Thursday. Surviving are a son, Corporal Raymond Anderson, with the armed forces in Germany; daughter, Mrs Myrtle Craig, Evansville; mother, Mrs Fanny Anderson, Hodge street; two brothers, William Anderson, Evansville; Rev. Tom Anderson, Logan, WV, and two sisters, Mrs James Hoover, South Harris street, and Mrs C C Melton, Hodge street. She is survived by her husband and several children. Funeral sevices were held at the Olive Branch church, Hanson country, at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. Burial was in the adjacent cemetery.
