Mattie's Scrapbook of Obituaries, page 13 Mrs Chloe T Cavanah Dies Mrs Chloe T Cavanah, 96, Madisonville, died at 9:15 pm Thursday at Hopkins County Hospital. She was born in Webster county on July 7, 1889. Her husband, Perry W Cavanah, preceded her in death on November 3, 1923. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs John Clayton, 516 South Scott street; two sons, Dallas Cavanah Sr., 527 North Seminary, and George B Cavanah, 926 Grapevine Road; (a third son, Chesley Gammon Cavanah, died January 13 of this year); 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at Harris Funeral Home, Elder J D Shain will officiate, assisted by Dr. C D Cole and Dr Harold J Purdy. Interment will be in Tirzah Cemetery in Webster county. Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 o'clock tonight. Mr Sheffer, 68, suffered from a heart condition for a number of years, but death came unexpectedly. He had been admitted to the Louisville hospital Monday afternoon for treatment. Mr Sheffer had been in the employ of the City of Madisonville for almost eighteen years, having been an employee of the street department. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Born in Henderson county, he was the son of the late Charles and Emma Book Sheffer. The Sheffers came to Madisonville to make their home in 1934. Surviving are the wife, Mrs Agnes Busby Sheffer, and a daughter, Mrs James Rash Claytor, South Franklin street. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Friday at Barnett- Strother Funeral Home in South Main street, with the Rev. Rupert Utley officiating. Interment will be in Grapevine Cemetery. Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Nebo. Survivors include her husband, Dr Ralph Cardwell; two sisters, Mrs Bessie Knight, Houston, Texas, and Mrs Mattie Humphrey, Evansville; and two brothers, Clyde Baker, Murphysboro, Ill., and Mat Baker, Evansville. Mrs Powell was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist Church near Hanson. Besides Mrs Wynn, other survivors are two sons, Elvis Powell, Nortonville, and William Powell, Hawthorne, Fla; 14 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and ten great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be donducted at 1 pm Sunday at Alexander Funeral Home in Evansville, with the Rev. H P Bibbert officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery near Nortonville. A member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church here, she was 83. Surviving are the husband, J Henry Rickard, also a resident of Senior Citizen Home; four daughters, Mrs Virgil Beeny, 227 West Noel avenue; Mrs Paul Lyons, 355 West Broadway; Mrs Walker Clayton, 244 Spring Lake; and Mrs Delmer Utterback, Tucker School Road; four sons, Arvil Rickard, 241 Kentucky avenue; Morton Rickard, Madisonville route 5; Arian Rickard, Henderson; and J C Rickard, 133 Nisbet Street; a brother, J R Clayton, also a resident of Senior Citizen Home; and 24 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Tuesday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church on Outer West Center street. Elder J D Shain will officiate, and interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery.
