Matties Scrapbook of Obituaries, page 17 S T Clayton Appendicitis caused the death of S T Clayton, 75 years old, of West Hanson, one of the most prominent farmers and stock raisers of that section of the county Friday evening at 6:30 o'clock after two weeks illness. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Olive Branch church, Rev. J D Shain, of this city, officiating. Interment was in the adjacent cemetery. Mr Clayton came to Hopkins county when a young man and located in the West Hanson country where he resided until his death. He was widely known in the county. Surviving Mr Clayton are his widow, to whom he had been married for more than fifty years, six sons, Magistrate M T Clayton, of the Hanson country; Scott Clayton, Richland; J L, J T, G L and Garnett Clayton, all of the West Hanson section; five daughters, Mrs Alfred Clayton, Richland; Mrs Brack Gammon, Madisonville; Mrs J S Clayton, Anton, and Misses Nora and Alma Clayton, of West Hanson, and thirty- three grandchildren. He also leaves a number of great grandchildren. He had been in ill health for sometime. Mr Clayton had been a member of the Antioch Primitive Baptist church for 45 years. He was married to Daisy Belle Dame October 19, 1908, and she survives. Mrs Clark was born Feb 15, 1865, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Joseph Hibbs. She was married in 1885 to Jesse Young and to this union four children survive. Mr Young died in 1891. She was married to Green Clark in 1893 and to this union one child was born. Mr Clark died in 1929. Surviving are three sons, Carol Young, Madisonville; Lem Young, Providence; and Bob Young, Linton, Ind.; a brother, Elgie Hibbs, Mortons Gap; and four grandchildren. The body will be taken from Reid Funeral Home, Earlington, to the Clark home in Mortons Gap this afternoon.
