Matties Scrapbook of Obituaries, pg 23 Mrs Lillian Farmer Dies Mrs Lillian Miller Farmer, 76, Madisonville, died at 5 am Thursday in the Fort Campbell Hospital after an illness of two and one half years. She was born in Hopkins county March 10, 1890, the daughter of the late Alfred and Elizabeth Van Treece Miller. Surviving are the husband, Jerry Farmer, Hopkinsville; a son, Roy J Farmer, with the United States Army in Fort Sill, Okla; a daughter, Mrs Dorothy Hunt, White Plains route 1; and a brother, Alfred Miller, White Plains. The body is being returned to Harris Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 pm tonight. Funeral plans are pending. [Did not locate burial information.] -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Walter Jasper "Jap" Gentry Walter Jasper "Jap" Gentry, 61, Evansville, died in Welborn Baptist Hospital there at 2:30 pm Sunday. He was a retired lineman for the Southern Indiana Gas and Electric Co. Mr Gentry was born in Webster county in 1904, the son of the late George Gentry and Mrs Hattie Gentry, 141 East Arch street. Surviving are the wife, Mrs Mona Gentry, Evansville and the mother, who is a patient at Clinic Convalescent Center here. Funeral services have been set for 2 pm Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home. The Rev. Harry A Pullen Jr will officiate and interment will follow in Slaughters Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home after 9 am Tuesday. Claud Long, 60, 315 Clark street, Earlington, died at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, at 4:10 pm Thursday following an abdominal operation on Monday, May 28. Death came unexpectedly following a sinking spell at 1:30 pm Thursday. He had seemed much better prior to that time. Mr Long was a partner in the firm of Harry Long and Brothers, contractors and plumbers, since 1908. The son of the late Mr and Mrs Gilbert J Long, pioneer citizens of Earlington, Mr Long married Claudie Mitchell in 1905 and two sons, Irvin Long, Earlington, and Corporal Marvin Long, Camp Carson, Colorado, survive that union. Funeral Sunday In addition to the widow and sons, other survivors are three brothers, Harry Long, Earlington, Thomas O Long, Madisonville, and Gilbert Long, Evansville; a sister, Mrs Clarence Collins, Clay; and a grandchild, Darla Dean, age 5. The remains will be removed from Reid Funeral Home, Earlington, to his home to await the funeral hour which will be at the Earlington Christian church, of which Mr Long was a member, at 2:30 pm Sunday. Rev. M J Dick, pastor of the church, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Archie Allison, pastor of the Earlington Baptist church. Burial site had not been announced this morning.
