Elder John T Waters, the son of William P and Sarah C Waters, was born in Gibson County, Ind., June 25, 1872; departed this life March 23, 1943. His stay in this life was 70 years, 10 months, and 23 days. He was united in marriage to Gertrude Brown on Oct. 7, 1896. To this union six children were born, three of whom were called to their eternal home when they were only babes. He united with the Regular Primitive Baptist Church at Evansville, Ind., about thirty nine years ago, and soon after began to exercise in public in a preaching way. After a few years he was ordained to the full work of the gospel ministry. He was a firm believer in the doctrine and practive of the Primitive Church; his only hope of heaven and immortal glory was by the grace of God and the vicarious death of Jesus Christ. He leaves, to mourn his liss, the wife, Gertrude; one son, Russel; two daughters, Mrs Clifford Croddy and Mrs Otho Abrams, both of Maben, Miss.; one sister, Mrs Amanda Schneider, many nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Let us weep not as those who have no hope, for "Brother John," as he was known, has fought a good fight, he has finished his course. Him disembodied spirit has gone to God who gave it; and when Jesus comes again to gather up His jewels, the soul and body will be reunited and fashioned like unto the glorious body of the Son of God. Then he will receive the crown and robe of righteousness which only He can give. Written by his nephews, A L Waters Evansville, Ind.
