M. Armstrong & Company, 1878 Hon. William Jourdan Graves, Lawyer, was born in 1805. He studied law, and took a high rank in his profession. He served as a member of the Kentucky Legislature, and, from 1835 to 1840, was in the Lower House of Congress. In 1848, he was a candidate for Governor, in the convention that nominated Hon. John J. Crittenden. He was a man of uncommon talents, and stood very high in the State he engaged in a duel, in 1838, at Bladensburg, Maryland, with Jonathan Gilley, in which the latter was killed. Mr. Graves died September 27, 1848, in the city of Louisville. Additional Comments: I have no connection and no further information. Sandi
