That the said Jonathan Elston & Polly his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one thousnd dollars in spice (?) to him in hand paid before thesealing and delivery of these presents have granted, bargined and sold,aliened released conveyed and affirmed and by these presents do grant barginsell, alien a lien[sic] release convey and confirm unto the said William Dougherty a certain tract or parcel of land situate and being in the County of Jefferson and state of Kentucky on Popelick Creek containing two hundred and twentyfive acres more or less and bounded as follows (viz): beginning at 3 whiteoaks in aline of Henry F. To have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances unto the said William Dougherty his heirs or assigns for ever and the said Jonathan Elston and Polly his wife ___ covenant and agree to and with said William Dougherty that they will warrant and defend the said land with its appurtenances unto the said Dougherty his heirs and assigns against themselves and their heirs and all persons claiming the same by or under them and against the claims or demand of all persons whatever.
