Important Message from Ken Rutledge, regarding his submissions of the Rutledge 
Family listings in Louisville Directories; to the KY USGenWeb Archives...      


The following information was extracted from old Louisville City & Suburban 
Directories.  I would like to express my appreciation and acknowledge the kind
cooperation, support, and tolerance of the staff of the University Archives and 
Records Center at the University of Louisville.  They have my sincere thanks. 
Please excuse any errors or omissions in this material.  I have corrected all 
errors that I found, but there may be some which escaped my attention.  Although 
I have researched the directories from 1832 to 1990, I chose only to include 
those up to 1973.  This gives a 25-year buffer of privacy for those individuals 
who are still living.  Most of the directories were published by the Caron 
Directory Company, or one of that company's "incarnations."  I can supply the 
bibliographic information for a particular year if anyone should desire it.

This information may be used freely by individuals for personal research; but, 
may not be included as a part of any package for sale or widespread distribution 
without my written consent.  I reserve the right to post and/or publish this 
information elsewhere at my discretion.  I further reserve exclusively for 
myself and my heirs any, and all, applicable copyrights to this material.  )

This compilation attempts to list all Rutledges (including variations in 
spellings) that were listed in the Louisville City & Suburban Directories.  
Where a notation occurs in brackets, "[ ]", it indicates that this information 
was originally an abbreviation, which I have written out.  I discontinued this 
practice in the later transciptions. Throughout, a notation that occurs in 
braces, "{ }", indicates a comment by me, usually also initialed, "kr".  In a 
few instances, I could not find an explanation of an abbreviation, and so, let 
it stand on its own.  If you are interested in the Rutledges of Louisville, I
