He was born in Worcester, England in 1868 to Henry Adlam and Amy Shepperd. He came to the United States of America following his graduation from Kingsbury College in London, England in 1889 (1886) and settled in St Louis, MO. He later moved to Louisville, KY with his wife Lillie Sullivan and had three daughters. In 1922 he moved to South Jacksonville. He opened the Southside Hardware Co. which he operated until he retired in 1946. Mr. Adlam was a charter member of the Southside Business Men's Club and helpful in the composition of the Club's origional bylaws. He was also a member of the Episcopal Chruch. Mr. Adlam is survived by his wife Mrs. Pauline Adlam, four daughters: Mrs. Earl Greer(Josephine Adlam) of Ft Lauderdale, Mre. Lee E. Cralle(Amy Adlam)of Louisville, KY,& Mrs John Cartlin & Miss. Helen Grant,of Miami.Two sons Glenn Mc Gourik & John D Grant of Jacksonville and five grandchildren. Services will be held at Robert M Naugle Chapel. Following the service the body will be shipped to Louisville,KY for burial in Cave Hill Cemetery.
