"As is true to life, sorry as well as joy always comes in the lives of people, in most every situation, and so it was when Delmer and Ruby Wheat were notified that their son Rex Wheat had been killed in Louisville in a one car accident Friday night around 8 a.m. Mr.Wheat, a native of this section of Capitol Hill community, had been on the police force in Louisville for nineteen years. He had a wonderful pesonality and like a magnet drew people to him. He was driving his camper and was within two blocks of his home, and the accident is not known concerning its cause.He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.Delmer Wheat, Fountain Run, his wife, a daughter, Patty, Louisville, and a sister, Mrs Shirley Wheat Bewley, Louisville. He would have been 43 years of age July 31. He is also survived by his grandmother, Mrs Lavada Fisher and many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. at the Capitol Hill Baptist Church where Mr. Wheat was a member by Bro. Odell Willoughby and burial was in the Wood Cemetery.
