OBIT: James R. "Doc" Hertel - Louisville, KY

Danville Commercial News -Danville, Vermilion County, IL. 
HOOPESTON -- James R. "Doc" Hertel, 64, of rural Hoopeston, died at
6a.m.Friday, May 3, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Louisville, Ky., the son of James and
Irene Jones Hertel. He married Nancy M. Vincent on July 9, 1960, in
Hoopeston. She survives. Other survivors include: two sons, Kenneth "Doug" (Amanda)
Hertel of Chebanse, and Shaun Hertel of Hoopeston and his fiancee, Vicki Cooper;
two grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son and one sister. Mr.
Hertel resided in the Hoopeston area for more than 60 years. He had been
employed by Deere & Company in Hoopeston. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a
member of Ira Owen Kreager American Legion Post #384 of Hoopeston. He enjoyed
radio-controlled airplanes. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 7, with
military rites, at Floral Hill Cemetery, Hoopeston; Officiating: Rev.
Lyle W. Curtis. There will be no visitation. Hamilton-Orr Funeral Home in
Hoopeston is in charge of the arrangements. Memorials may be made to
Provena Regional Cancer Center, 806 N. Logan Ave., Danville, IL 61832.
