MCMAHAN, who delivered 3,314 babies in his 54 years of medical practice, died at 7pm today at his hom in Bloomfield. He was 82. Dr. McMAHAN left the teaching field to enter medicine. He once was advised for health reasons, to quit his practice so that he might work indoors. The medical profession was considered too arduous. A Jefferson County native, Dr. McMAHAN taught for several years in Jefferson County school.s He then entered the old Hospital College of Medicine in Louisville and was graduated in 1898. His first practice was in Spencer County, and it was there that he was told to give up medicine for healt sake. He became a cashier in a Taylorsville Bank. But a few years later he decided to re establish a medical practice. And to prepare himself he entered Tulane University's School of Medicine at New Orleans for postgraduate work. Dr. McMAHAN returned to Kentucky in 1928 and opened an office in Fairfield. He practiced there until 1944, when he moved to Bloomfield. Dr. MCMAHAN is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Broadus WIGGINTON and Miss Ann Elizabeth McMAHAN, both of Bloomfield and a brother S. C. McMAHAN of Jeffersontown. The funeral will be at 10 am Thursday at the residence in Bloomfield. Burial will be in Valley Cemetery at Taylorsville. (written beside article looks like July 53
