He was the son of Jacob and Sallie Pace Madden, and had spent most of his life in Kentucky. He had been a coal miner until four years ago when he came to the Lexington community to operate a farm. He was a member of the Disney Baptist Church,. Kentucky. Left to mourn his death are his wife Mrs. Margaret Hensley Madden, children Mrs. Tilda Cloud, Disney, Ky., Jess Madden, Lexington, Ind., Mrs. Mary Gilbert, Disney, Ky., Mrs. Rachel Wilson, Lake City, Tennessee, Miss Della Madden, Ewell Madden and Hap Madden, all of Lexington, R.2. He is also survived by brothers Champ Madden, Manchester, Ky., Grant Madden, Kisney, Ky., and sisters Mrs. Hannah Short, Clover Splint, Ky., Mrs. Mary Cloud Disney, Ky., Mrs. Dollie Widener, South Carolina.The Rev. V.W. Sears conducted the funeral at the family home near Lexington at 10 A.M. Tuesday. Interment was in charge of L.B. Stewart & Son at the Lexington cemetery. Scott County IN., newspaper, March 27, 1969 Funeral of Mrs. Madden was Tuesday Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 25, for Mrs. Margaret Madden, 81, at the Stewart Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Steckert officiating, interment was held in the lexington Cemetery.Mrs. Madden, a resident of Scottsburg, died on Sunday at 1:15 p.m. in the Hillcrest Nursing Home in Jeffersonville. She had been ill for 3 months. She was the widow of Joe Madden who died in 1950. A native of Disney, Ky., she has resided in Scott County since 1947. She was a member of the Baptist Church at Disney. She was the daughter of Calvin and Minie Hensley. Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tilda Cloud of Louisville; Mrs Mary Gilbert of Bluffton, and Mrs, Della Goodman of Scottsburg; three sons, Jess Madden of Lexington; Ewell Madden of Ridgeway, ILL.; Hamp Madden of Louisville; two sisters, Mrs Mary Lawson of LaGrange, Ky.; Hamp Hensley and Bert Hensley of Dayton, Ohio; Clarence Hensley of Eminence, Ky., and Henry Hensley of Harlan, Ky., and 21 grandchildren.
