A former City attorney of Jeffersontown, Benjamin B . "Judge" Melvin, 54, died yesterday at St. Joseph Infirmary. Mr. Melvin, who lived at 207 N. College, Jeffersontown, started the successful campaign to get the Jeffersontown's water and sewage systems during his two-year term as City attorney in the late 1930s. The atorney, who oned the Silver Springs swimming pool, practiced law in Jeffersontown after leaving the City attorney's post. He was a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan College and the University of Louisville School of Law. Mr. Melvin was a native of Marion, Ohio, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Jeffersontown Rotary Club. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Marjorie Melvin his mother Mrs. Charles Melvin, and a sister, Mrs. Arden Groll, Marion, Ohio. Funeral services willbe held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Myers Funeral Home, Jeffersontown, with burial in Resthaven, Memorial Part. (Oct. 8 1954)
