A native of Meade County, Dr. Shacklette gratuated from the University of Louisville Medical School in 1912. During World War I he was a doctor with the 81st Wildcat Division and served 18 months overseas. He came out of the Army a major. He later became president of the Jeffersontown Bank and for a number of years was a member of the town's Board of Trustees. Dr. Shacklette was a Shriner, past master of the Jeffersontown Masonic Lodge, a member of the American Legion, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Jefferson County Medical Society, the State group, and the American Medical Association. During World War II, he served on a Jefferson County draft board. He also was deacon of the Fourth Avenue Baptist Church here. After his retirement in 1947 he spent his winters in Punta Gorda, Fla.
