WELLER was the son of Charles Leslie WELLER and Barbara E. POUND of Bullitt County. The obituary for Ray P. Weller was provided by Martha Weller Vitale. The newspaper clipping was without banner or page identification. However, the actual obituary had a subtitle, "Special to The Courier-Journal" Kentucky Fair Official, Ray P. Weller, Dies Shelbyville, Ky., June 4 - Ray P. Weller, 62, Shelbyville, State Fair official and tobacco-warehouse leader, died at 2:45 a.m. Sunday at King's Daughters Hospital. In 1955 he was assistant to Sate Fair Manager Dan Baldwin. Weller was manager of sale of space in the Exposition Wing from 1956 to 1961. A director of the Kentucky Association of Fairs, since it was founded in 1949, he was its president in 1955. He was a director of the Shelby County A. & M. (Fair) Association for 12 years and president for six more. Managed Warehouse Weller started working at the Star Tobacco Warehouse here n 1933 and bought interest in it in 1942. In 1948 the warehouse was sold to the Western District Warehouse Corporation and since then Weller had managed the warehouse. He had been a partner in the Shelby County Locker Company since 1943. In 1939 he helped organize Long & Weller Concrete Products Company and was a partner in it until 1948. He was a farm-equipment distributor from 1949 to 1954. He was the first president of Shelby County Industrial Foundation, past president of the Rotary Club, director of the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. Survivors include his wife, Mrs.Virginia Smith Weller; a daughter, Mrs. Clayton Baker and two grandchildren, all of Shelbyville. The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. (C.D.T.) Tuesday at First Baptist Church, of which he was a member. Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery, Louisville. The body will be at Shannon Funeral Home until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday when it will be taken to the church.
