Died: Thursday, 4 Nov 2004, Jewish Hospital, age 73.
Had lived 166 days on an implanted replacement heart; died of multiple organ 
failure. He had received the AbioCor artificial heart in a May 24 surgery. He 
was the 14th recipient of the soft-ball-sized pump which is made of plastic 
and titanium and powered by batteries. He was the only AbioCor patient still 
living with the device. 
Born: Barren Co KY
Son of the late Walter and Martha Williams Wiley
Retired farmer, had been employed by National Brush and B. R. Retreads in 
Glasgow. US Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, member Peters Creek 
Baptist Church.
Survivors:
Wife: Catherine Davis Wiley
Son: David Wiley and wife Kathy of Glasgow
Grandchildren: William Chad Wiley of Glasgow, Kandice Adair and husband Chris 
and Katie Wiley, all of Bowling Green KY
Brothers: Denton and Lyron Wiley
Sisters: Inez Buster and Nell Thomason
Several nieces and nephews
Preceded also in death by:
Brother: Ray Wiley
Sister: Ina Dyer
Services: 2pm Monday, 8 Nov 2004, Hatcher and Saddler Funeral Home, burial 
Glasgow Municipal Cemetery.
