Allen, of Troy, was the scene of a pretty home wedding yesterday at 3:30 p.m., when their daughter, Miss Hester, became the bride of Mr. Richard Hayes, of Louisville, Ky. There were only a few close friends and relatives present to witness the ceremony. The parlors were tastefully decorated in palms, ferns and potted plants. At the appointed time the bride, on the arm of the groom, entered the parlor to the strains of Mendelssohn's "Wedding March," played by Miss Thelma Allen, sister of the bride, when Rev. J.E.M. Davenport, in a very impressive manner, spoke the words that made them "no more twain but one flesh." The bride was attired in a handsome traveling suit of blue cloth, with hat and gloves to match, and carried a bouquet of bride's roses. Immediately after the ceremony the happy couple left for a few weeks' stay in Florida and Cuba. A special train had been provided for their departure, and they were accompanied as far as Biscoe by almost the entire assemblage of relatives and friends present. Mrs. Hayes is one of the most beautiful, popular and accomplished young ladies that Montgomery county has ever produced and has many friends in different portions of the State. Mr. Hayes belongs to one of the best families of Louisville and has for nine years been a popular traveling salesman for the Belknap Hardware Company, of Louisville. Mr. and Mrs. Hayes will for the present reside in Raleigh and will be at home at the Yarborough House after January 15th, 1908.
